Brumbies supporter now living in Melbourne. Rugby and Larkham fan ever since he de beered de Beer. Never shy of controversy because when I say it it's cute.

Another Wallabies Wales special. A match of early running rugby, end to end activity, then a second half of gritty keep you on the edge of your seat, ruin your excess cuticles stuff. The Match 90 seconds in, Australia, after a good kick off and some poor refereeing give up possession and then Webb [the Welsh 9] sells an easy dummy to McMahon to go in untouched. (4th min) #458621768 / gettyimages.com Folau breaks his drought and scored off broken play. Australia with an attacking scrum get a knock on advantage. Lilo feeds Hooper who makes the half break and…

Although only against the ragtag bunch of international misfits this game proved valuable giving the Wallabies a tune up game for their new coach and a good 85 odd minutes of mostly end to end running rugby. It was, however, hard to tell if their was an improvement in the bench with our starting props and half combination waiting there . Here are my Wallabies player ratings: Benn Robinson Failed to catch a simple pass early putting gifting the opposition a midfield attacking scrum. Hit back however with a try from close range off a Genia short ball. Would love…

After the continuing Beale drama & loss to Argentina Wallaby supporter morale has been at a low. We’ve seen articles about lasers, shambles, lessons & even a 2 part series analysing the use our bench (part 1) (part 2). This article will go through the changes in terms of selection I would make in order to restore some dignity for Bledisloe 3 & hopefully improve Wallaby levels of hope in the build up to the match. Selection Pool I’m going to keep this as realistic as possible and refrain from selecting overseas based players, or players under injury or discipline…

The scrum told the story on the scoreboard and was the litmus test for coming points. For the UC Vikings they wanted it acidic, the redder the better. The Melbourne Rising preferred it alkaline, blue, letting their backs run through. #456072400 / gettyimages.com The Match Absolute scrum dominance allowed the Rising to score 26 points in 26 minutes: – Jack Debreczini crossed after 2 minutes, capitalising on forward dominance. – 10 minutes later, Inman made a line break and from quick ball Debreczini chipped to himself and unselfishly allowed Veainu to maximise his chances for leading try scorer of the…

I know what you’re thinking, you’re thinking, “this is a rugby site if I wanted to see round smooth balls, I’d have botox. Rugby is a superior game and I shouldn’t waste my time watching other more boring sports.” Well, if you think that, you’re wrong. Just like Coatsie here: (from G&GR’s Gold Section) Soccer/Football – Snakes & Ladders “A simple game, which is, at the end of the day, really boring to watch, as very little really happens. One simply travels up the board, and back down the board, up the board, and back down the board, up the…

It’s been a bad week for Brumbies supporters: Firstly we have Kaplan reffing a home game, which is bad enough. Then our (booby)prize recruit, Matt Giteau, is made fun of for having ample possession and territory and not being able to build a big lead with it and now we’re being called the ugliest most boring Australian team to watch in this years Super 14. Well enough is enough, and that last one was certainly a low blow. Every other year there are more contenders for the most boring award, this year the standard for Aussie rugby has been raised…

Just when it seems the Reds machine may hit a hurdle playing the Stormers without a vastly experienced lock, they announce the signing of the great Radike Samo. For those of you unfamiliar with the Australian-Fijian Wallaby Lock/Blind-side Flanker. He played 35 games for the Brumbies (when they were good) from 2000-2005 and earned Wallaby selection in 2004. He traveled after that and had stints in Europe and Japan. Samo was best known for his blinding speed for a 111kg lock and outrages plays whilst holding the ball in one of his giant mitts.

We all know it’s not over to the fat lady sings. But Benn Robinson’s wife wasn’t available for it. So instead I’ll try and run through the facts of what the chances are of an Australian representation in the finals series this year. So here’s what we know and what counts. Had the season been over this week the top 4 on the following graph would make it: (Thank Gagger each team has got another 10 games over 11 weeks.)

Some think they will cause player drain and weaken Aussie super 15 chances, others think they will serve Australian rugby by creating a new province for world cup hopefuls to return to, and still others think they will expose new blood to the super 15 and earlier detect many exciting young players. My thoughts are that they will do all those things and more. We’ve got to get behind them and take the good in with the bad. Sure they might steal some Brumbies and Reds, and offer contracts to discarded Tahs and Force players (because no one would sign…

15 Adam Ashl ey-Cooper: Shrugged tackles at will, we needed him in the line when we were close to scoring. Not in full back, bring him into 13 and pass him the ball with a little bit of room. 7 14 Peter Hynes: One great tackle that may have been a Kaplan yellow. Decent defence, but didn’t offer enough in attack, should have demanded the ball and gone it alone. 4

Australia has a relatively low population for the number of popular male ‘national’ sports: the various football codes and cricket. This inevitably causes a high level of competition among them for fans and finance. Other countries recognise that possible changes in these sports may be seen first in Australia. “Because the sporting marketplace in this country is so competitive, any trends – good or bad – in the global game manifest themselves here first.” This article will look (in depth) at the health of Australia’s main male team sporting codes, suggest the turning points the codes will have to negotiate…

I found this article on the ABC website, seems Green And Gold Rugby is reaching and pissing off more people than intended, and its not El-Dommo. CLICK HERE AND HERE I am quite worried, being called a ‘handjob’ seems nice now compared to what’s coming.

A friend (not Andy) was telling me about this (NRL) Footy Show segment. In it El Masri (who has recently announced his retirement, probably because of this GAGR Exposé [he’s a time traveller]) kicks a regulation (NRL, coke zero) ball inflated with helium over soccer goals from a supposed 100 metres distance. Of course i did not believe him because i have seen it busted twice on mythbusters (once with a throwing machine and then revisited with a kicking [punting] machine). But then I started searching online video

A sad day for Australian running rugby fans as potential starting wallaby fullback Mark Gerrard was granted a release from the brumbies to join a Japanese club next season. Gerrard has earned 79 Super rugby caps and is third on the Brumbies list of all-time point scorers. When this news was released Gerrard said –  “I definitely wouldn’t rule out the possibility of returning to play in Australia and pulling on the Brumbies strip again.”

NOW WITH SAMO TRY VIDEO BELOW! The Brumbies line up to play the Hurricanes on Saturday night 5:30pm (EST) will be without: Guy Shepherdson (2 weeks, suspension),  Christian Lealiifano (3, Hamstring), Clyde Rathbone (1-3, Quad), Mark Gerrard(1, Hammy), Sitaleki Timani (atleast 3, knee), Mark Chisholm (season, wrist). They will also probably be missing Ben Hand and maybe Alfi Mafi, with both in a race against time to be fit. If Hand doesn’t recover from his hamstring strain cause by knee hyper-extension the Brumbies will have to use Chaman with Kimlin in the 2nd row.

15 Mark Gerrard (ACT) – Gerrard must think he has a better chance at socceroo selection this year with some great skills controlling the oval ball. Scored a chip and chase with 4 extra fly-hacks to spark the brumbies back into the game. He then went on to nail a drop goal from 40m. His tactical kicking was again a thing of beauty and something the wallabies need if they are going to win anything this year. 14 Lachie Turner (NSW) – Two tries, could have been 4 if not for 2 shit passes from Tuqiri (although the 1st wasn’t…
