What's happening at West Harbour Colts?
3rds forfeited today, 2nd grade lost a front rower after 5 minutes and didn't have a replacement so we had uncontested scrums all game.
Wicks rested most of their Colts 1sts and but still piled on over 100 points.

Unfortunately the uncontested scrum virus also made an appearance at the Gordon V Parra game yesterday part way through the first half and was also the theme for the entire game against Penrith last week. While uncontested scrums is an appropriate player safety option when you don’t have suitably experienced replacements, the cynic in me can’t help wondering why 120kg inside centres and 115kg backrowers cant be trained to do “real mens” work up the front. I just don’t understand why anyone would want to pull on a jersey numbered nine through to fifteen. C’mon guys, get real, leave the hairdressing and baton twirling to the swivel hipped nancies that flounce around and drop the pill all game.

The player decline/exodus in the West is bad enough but a game “strategy” to play uncontested scrums brings us one step closer to Mungo

Anyone get to the North’s v Sydney Uni game?

I’d dare say not many would have predicted that result...

First loss for Uni 1st in over 2 years.

I didn't see it. Uni with a few out.

Could be a bit of grudge match for North's because of the coach changing camps.

Don't know about a grudge match because of an ex-grade coach? He left grade on good terms as far as i know and to be honest i doubt that any of the Norths colts even know who he is.

Norths had a few out also... they just wanted it more and completed their chances. Uni did score 5 tries to 4 but Norths took points whenever they were on offer to 'kick' away.

My bad, I thought he was coaching colts at Norths.

Who were the standout players in the game?

It is a cliche but Norths didn't have any passengers, every player had close to their best game of year. If i had to pick one would have been Crotti at prop packing down against an all NSW front row.
For Uni Poolman and Breen caught the eye.

Looks like 3 teams are going to struggle. But the rest look like a close contest. With the exception of Warringah, I am not too sure about.

NSWRU, NSWJRU and SRU are facilitating the formation of the Western Sydney Barbarians to enable the young Rugby players from the west to continue their Rugby journey.

Their first game will be this Saturday, May 5th vs Eastern Suburbs at Lidcombe Park where the team will wear jerseys provided by the Gen Blue program of the NSW Waratahs.

Players interested in playing for the new Western Sydney team should contact NSWRU.

WHat happens to the comp points?

The Western Sydney Barbarians will be playing for comp points and are joining from zero - other points stay as is.

Offers a meaningful rugby avenue for those colts players now dislocated - still playing for something & gives the rest of the clubs in 3rd colts an extra game.
Not fair to the teams who didn’t play Penrith 3rds and now have to meet a stronger team - and it must be a stronger team or the plan wouldn’t be justified.
Not sure why kids paying the participation fee for the privilege of playing this once great game have to also do the social work the Sru/NSWRU/ARU neglected for 30 years.

Why?
All previous Penrith games are now a 28-0 result - as are all future Penrith byes. In fact Souths lost to Penrith 3rds so they will benefit.
All teams except Gordon get to play the Western Sydney Barbarians = more participation, and the aim is to have more kids PLAYING the game as opposed to a bye.
As for the strength of the Western Sydney Barbarians - well who knows which Penrith players will take up the option of joining? The Plan with this is simple - to give the kids in the west an avenue to keep playing rugby this year.

We”re either at cross purposes or I misunderstood your point. My money is on the latter.
