Oh yeah? Who is that going to be? King Country 2nd XV?
Well you guys couldn’t knock over the supposedly worst kiwi super team in history so just thought I’d try and give you something to look forward to. Stick to the tahs mate they’ll get Australian rugby out of the toilet situation we’re in. On that too I know it’s controversial but maybe it might be time to give Hooper a break and see what the team can do with out him. I’m not saying he played a bad game at all but maybe the Tahs could do with a good shake up. Just a thought.

What the Tahs could do with is the return of a few of the very good players that we have lost to rich NH clubs. Any suggestions as to where we could get the money from?

Maybe it might make some of the other non performers to stand up and be counted instead of relying on Hooper being there all the time. Or you can carry on the winning way with him! Oh hang on...

Let’s drop the western force in the name of a “shakeup” because teams aren’t performing to their best, oh wait.........

Stupid fucking logic when you look at it that way isn’t it............

Well not really cause we’re not part of your system anymore so pretty hard to blame us for the rest losing. Mate I’m just trying to throw ideas out there, try to find some solutions to the shit rugby being played by most Australian teams. Get some ideas flowing!

I can see now why the guys on the various Rugby segments on radio 4TAB kept saying throughout the week that the $2-50 on offer for the Blues to beat the Tahs was "the sports bet of the week"!

Reveloutinary idea, drop the players who deserve to be dropped instead of the best player in the team

Mate I’m not trying to Gee up so calm your farm! Sometimes it is a good thing to let players and people have a break and freshen up ala Folau. Is it worth trying something new for the sake of all your sanity and self preservation? What’s your suggestions?

Intentional resting of a player is a hella lot different from dropping someone unwarranted to try and motivate others

I caught the last 20 minutes of this game when we got home.

Quite comical really, even when the Blues tried their usual self-destruct in the last 10 minutes tactic, we still managed not to win.

As I said a couple of years back, the Blues and the Waratahs should really just play each other every week sp that no one else has to sit through it.

NSW lie 3rd on the overall table for the Super Championship.
Sounds about right ?!?

I thought that they'd ditched the system where conference winners were guarranteed a finals spot.

How can SANZAAR continue to reward mediocrity (or levels below mediocrity) and expect people to take this thing seriously?

I don't know if you have been following some of the discussions on other threads or a few rants on other forums about structure, building pressure, going through the phases etc. Basically Australian players have been coached from a young age since 1998 onwards that phase play and structure is the way to win rugby. Its all about structures. Forget basic skills, structures will make up for that. Forget in depth team work structures and phase play and building pressure will win us the game.

When they are asked why they failed, they do not understand, because they are following the prescribed structures. Even the coaches don't know and think it must be fitness so Chieka bangs on and flogs the players into the ground in the name of fitness (and it must be said would have killed the Conditioning coach's season tapering program in doing so). They have no conception that it is the basic skills and actually being able to play as a team that is lacking. They are so structured the Blues tonight were able to make the tackle as the ball is received, able to line up defenders and have them running onto the receiver as the ball is passed from on onside position, because AUstralian play is so structured you know what they are going to do before you even give them, the ball. Add to that if you kick the ball to Folau and chase so that you block is god aweful low trajectory kick he will either very poorly pass the ball or be forced to run it so double team him and turn it over. Easy. Same with Taquele - cannot kick, double team him and run at him and step on attack because he is a very poor defender especially if he misses his first tackle of the day. Target the ruck because Australian forwards for all the gym work are weak in contact and will not be able to move a single opposition player at the ruck and will most likely go backwards in contact.

The nadir of this of course was when Hickey and Foley used to say that the statistics showed that they actually won the game, but the opposition just happened to score more points. And they said this with a straight face and the conviction of people who actually believed what they were saying. QED

Oh lord.

I mean at least say you won these stats, but not the game. At least then it is factually correct (even if stupid)

That would require management decisions and we know that they have no influence on where rugby currently finds itself.

I wonder if players like AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) learnt to pass or improve their individual skill deficiencies in the NH, away from the Australian Rugby system where management has no impact of how rugby is played.

THEY'RE ALL BORN IN AUCKLAND. EVERY RUGBY TEAM IN AUSTRALASIA HAS AT LEAST 5 PLAYERS BORN IN AUCKLAND. GODDAMNIT.

Not sure about born in Auckland but according to a recent Hurld article there's 61 Super Rugby players who finished their schooling in the Blues catchment (Auckland, North Harbour & Northland) of which either 30 or 31 are on the Blues books & the rest distributed around the other four NZ sides. I'd imagine that if you went through the Australian franchises rosters you'd probably find a few more.

Just on Cam Clarke, don't forget that for several years his father was the voice of Loig here in NZ, did all the Warriors & Kiwis home games.

We know that Beale came back from the NH a better player.

The team thought they had a penalty advantage apparently

so I rewatched it and have just returned from the local asylum - there was nothing I could discern to support a penalty advantage and Peyper did not have his arm out (though of course that doesn't mean much with him) but I also didn't hear him say anything. and the commentators didn't suggest there was a stuff up.
what I did notice was that the blues got a penalty from the ensuing line out and time was up. They stupidly kicked directly to touch - had they tapped it and then kicked it it would have been game over.
They really are plumbing the depths these two teams.
