If the QRU chose as they did a rookie HC it was _essential_ they chose ACs of proven specialisms and high calibre.

Instead these fools did the precise opposite. It was ‘the good ol’ boys of QLD rugby’ picked as ACs and totally irrespective of track record, all over again.

The irony of track record is that the QRU justification for hiring TT was that he was the most successful coach of the Melbourne Rebels - which is technically correct............

(NB: I thought TT was a shit hire)

Why all the hate for the assistant coaches? It sounds like some expect them to carry BT's bags and make up for him being a rookie.
Should've picked better assistants for the rookie head coach? How about should've picked a proven head coach?
I'm not supporting the assistant coaches and have no agenda but the buck stops at BTs door. thats what he is paid the big bucks for.

All we can hope for is that Thorn gives the players, ACs and himself an immense spray and they come out breathing fire next week against the canes

Because Thorn is clearly a more Cheika-style coach: very good at man motivation, but lacking in tactical nous. Thus the need for top-notch assistant coaches to bring that tactical nous.

You didn't read the fine print which also stated that he won two wooden spoons during his time with Melbourne - anyway , enough about that - he's yours now , all the best to you and yours

“We’ve got a young group and they’re learning how tough this competition is and how you need to prepare and front up each week. It’s an area of growth for this team.” according to BT. Im not sure blaming the youth of the reds on such a performance is unfair. I thought the "older' experienced players need to show the youth leadership.
  1. (30yrs old)Ben Lucas was very slow and 3 charged down kicks within 10 mins is an experienced player no longer able to compete at this level and should return to clubland for a graceful twighlight exit. In fact his 2nd exit kick attempt should have woken 100 gamer Dougy into action as it smacked him on the arse .
  2. Unfortunately Doug was a shadow of his efforts against Lions
  3. Rodda was again a stand out (21 yrs old)
  4. Jono L took us back to the dark ages. . . absolutely slow balls and backs had nothing to play with.
  5. Young JP(19 yr old) was brilliant in defense. Saving a sure try just before half time
  6. I thought the youth enthusiasm should be applauded and guided by mature heads.

Who would have thought... You sacrifice the best attacking player in Oz on the altar of defence and then you get your arse handed to you on 63 plates by the team with the worst record in all the comp...

You just can't make this shit up, sure glad I didn't wake up at 5am to watch that crap...

How the QRU/Thorn thought they could win a Super title or even make the finals with two ‘average’, aged journeymen at 9 and 10 is simply beyond belief.

The QRU is like a partially lobotomised brain: permanently incapable of learning.
