Look while I am happy to get Naisarani across for next season I would have preferred us to try and brink home Valetini or Samu. Seeings we don’t have to many Melbourne born players it always annoys me when we lose our juniors elsewhere

Agree, but Matt T is a Melbourne born Wallaby so cheer up

Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but i see the Hurricanes have got Uelese's younger brother into their academy squad for next season. I believe he went over there to get more opportunities and pathways, would be interesting to see if he would end up here eventually and i guess the big question is he any good?

So the winner for the most Australian rugby moment of the year goes to Coleman for his lack of game management in not taking the points for a draw against the Jaguares mid season, to progress his side to the finals for the first time. If ever there was a moment that sums up Australian rugby with its lack of game awareness and too much bravado getting in the way of smarts, that moment sums it up better than any. Sad thing is many at the time and currently will not point this moment out as the turning point in the season to learn lessons from. It would of seen them qualify in 7th playing a game against a stuttering Lions team and all players returning for selection

Huh? What? Is this serious?

You're angry at the guy for not taking a draw in an otherwise winnable mid-season game?

"Nup, guys, we'll settle with definitely not winning this one. It might come in handy if one of the 93,000 possible end-of-season permutations comes into realisation".

What about the lead you guys gave up against the Tahs, or any of the other 43 teams you lead at half-time?

This is nonsensical.

Of course the Rebels could of wrapped up their finals place by winning any of the last 3 games that they were in positions to win and should have won at least one however Rebels3 is spot on. Game management across Oz rugby and particularly at the Rebels is horrendous and I hope they have a serious look at this in their end of year reviews and off season. Many said after the Jags game that they hoped that decision doesn't come back to bite them but it clearly has and if they simply dismiss it or deny it was a massive factor in them missing the finals then they will only continue to make the same stupid mistakes.

No one is angry, just a little disappointed for the game to get a much needed boost here in Vic. It was and still is the only time all season that guaranteed competition points had been ignored. Unlike the other results that were decided on a multitude of factors throughout 80mins, this was a situation past 80mins, they were about 20m out and right in front. Overall it’s more a reminder that the bigger picture needs to be considered and at times a live to see another day attitude is alright. Probably a stretch to use Coleman solely as it was a team decision but as the captain unfortunately you are also the figurehead.

We are very proud to have Adam as the team captain as his onfield effort is superb and the way he conducts himself off the field is also superb. It’s just this one decision that put an asterisk on what could of been.

Marque players are counted outside of salary cap. Well they use your be if I remember correctly

And two year limits.........

I can’t imagine RA would still be making concessions on overseas marquee players after cutting the Force.

As JW said - if he wants to play for Japan at the RWC he has to go to Japan.

We are all experts with hindsight.

Why should RA let him. His had his 2 years if the Rebels get Narsarni as expected who'll be Australian why would they not want him playing as he is Australian elligiable..

Also based on his form recently, why make a special effort to keep him? Teams have him worked out. He gets the ball, he runs. Once they get him to ground he looked to be pretty easy to turn over in the past few weeks, gives away a lot of penalties. The reason he looked so effective early on was noone stopped him, he was the main attacking weapon, running the ball from everywhere and relying on not being tackled. Many times, once he was taken out of the game the Rebels went backwards.
A younger, Wallaby eligible player in Naisarani is, in my opinion, a better option.
Plus it sets a dangerous precedent if RA make yet another concession for the Rebels in allowing them to sign an OS player for longer. Definitely won't be viewed favourably by the other states.

Australian rugby needs to focus on developing its own players, or those who are going to be eligible soon. Unless a marquee player offers something really special both on and off the field well above what local players can offer then it shouldn't happen. Mafi has been a strong player for the Rebels but has having him helped to develop young local loose forwards through them actively training/working with him? Even the Japanese player option should be cancelled now that they have the Sunwolves, and the Sunwolves are stacked with foreign players anyway.
