I think we're well into FanFic territory talking about Quade Cooper making his triumphant return at fullback in 2019 in Brad Thorn's Reds team.

While Will would benefit any team, we've got three young halfbacks, all in my mind have shown promise. The money Will deserves and wants in my mind would be better spent on developing the outside backs to give Stewart better options.

I would welcome Will back to the Reds with open arms, but I feel its a 'marquee' signing for the sake of it.

Wasn't it a year or 2 ago when Willie G was on the market and supposedly wanted to return to the Reds and the Reds, for one reason or another bounced him.

Lots of talk about a dodgy knee.

He's played pretty well whilst on the park this year but missed several games through injury.

I just don't want another Stephen Moore. That worked out shithouse for the Reds.

Would HE fit in with Thorn - I don't think so.

Him and Quade would make Souths a powerhouse

Looks like Toua is going, at least for now. Pretty sure he was only ever an injury cover. With our current FB being the departing flyhalf, and the only specialist FB in Toua leaving, plus 'backups' like J.N and Maranta also going.....we are definitely short on playmakers & fullbacks with nous. Even if we get Folau...trying to get Toua or another specialist FB to come here post Japan again seems like a smart move.

he's actually not even playing that exceptionally at the moment. Certainly wasn't making a commanding statement for a recall.

As an aside, if Cooper sees out all of 2019 and pockets his full wedge, would he seek to play another top-level season after that?

By the age of 32, and given the circumstances, it's gotta be doubtful. Perhaps Japan could be a possibility. But his last pro match may end up as the Reds being outclassed at Dunedin in 2017.

Sooner or later (likely sooner) it will be time to move on.
