McCauley played for Country last year.

Surely, they should keep some continuity with selections.

Some, yeah. But it happens up here too. If the goal is to give opportunity and provide a couple of somewhat equal teams then there will be player shuffling. Particularly when your kinda starting again down there.

Lalakai Foketi has also been named in the bay of plenty steamers squad for this year…Awkward

That would have been a while back, with the Mitre-10 already 3 three rounds in.

Foketi hasn't played for BOP following his stint with the Tahs in 2018. There's an answer in there somewhere.

Definitely named him this year in the squad and was featured On their Instagram as recently as two days ago

Does he make the Steamers 23 any time in the first three rounds?

He might have a gig in oz.

I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Dearest NSW NRC rugby selectors,
Please explain how you can parachute Folaus brother into a team over players who have actually played the game before and have busted their arses through your pathway of shute shield to make a rep side.
Is it part of your ultimate plan to keep izzy in the game? FFS wake up he played for wentworthville magpies this year.
Hmmm wonder which club he will end up at next year.
Nothing surprises anymore i guess

Agreed,

Seems a pretty random recruitment.

Has he ever played rugby? Or just league.

Just league but look if helps with raising Marc’s profile maybe one can overlook this.

But I take people’s point is him taking a place denies others. But then again if it encourages more players from league to join union I would be more supportive as we should target all top line athletes suited to our game as league has no concerns about raising union talent.

He has played a handful of NRL matches over 4 years - I don't think he is top line talent - very random

Hmmm, so Izzy says to Raelene.

"OK, I will lay off twitter for a bit, but you have to give my bro a gig"

Yeh look I can't say I am that excited about John Folau given lower level league player but heck at least got some media headlines which given how little exposure NRC gets media wise can't be a bad thing.

I presume more doing it for publicity given late inclusion

They could have sought out Yirribi Jaffer-Williams who was shamefully overlooked for U20 duties.

Please don't put ideas into their heads they might actually wake up to how many players walk away from the game or head overseas because of exactly this type of behaviour. However they can see no wrong with the current model....grassroots? loyalty to the game? pffft
