Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh named joint VCs. Apparently when Trevor Hohns was justifying the decision he said that Marsh was from strong cricketing family or words to that effect which has ruffled a few feathers.

A little off-topic but how did DWarner celebrating his Club ton the other day like he'd scored them before lunch on Boxing Day at The G go down? Saw something about BMac tweeting that is was like Sir Ed making a big deal about climbing his front steps on arriving home from Everest but haven't seen or heard much other reaction so curious to know how people feel about him now most of the heat has gone out've the situation.

There's a pretty good video of Warner and his celebration and you can hear someone in the crowd go "fuck me dead, it's park cricket mate." Think that about sums it up.

Sorry to go further off-topic but how is Warner (& Smith & the other bloke for that matter) even playing cricket ATM? Thought the ban was 12 months & I'm sure it's been nowhere near that long yet.

The ban is from international cricket and professional cricket at home so they've been able to play in the T20 league in Canada and in grade cricket at home. In reference to your original question about the perception of the players, there's certainly been quite a lot of love for Steve Smith here in Sydney since the incident as he's been going around talking about his experience and mental health to schools. He's also been doing a fair amount of other community work like last week he apparently turned up early to help the groundsmen prepare the ground. Warner is still the villain in most people's eyes.

Remember that was a Cricket Australia suspension. ICC gave them a slap on the wrist like other ball tamperers.

CA basically banned the from the Australian team (and state teams I think?). But they were keen on them playing grade cricket to give back etc.

I just shake my head, really. The state of Australian batting has been pretty parlous for five years or more, other than Smith and Warner.

^^^^^^^^ Marsh bros batting 3 & 4 says it all, really.

Straya 202 after being 0/142, Pakistan 3/45 at stumps on day 3, lead of 325 which is probably already more than enough. Bat til lunch on day 4 & give yourself 5 sessions to bowl Straya out a second time? I don't see anyone in that lineup who's gunna bat 8+ hours to save it.

For the summer, unless they pick up the pace, both Marshes should go - bring in Maxwell (no. 4?).

Khawaja to 3 & Renshaw into opener

Head & Labuschagne get another chance.

Let's be frank, despite how bad the collapse was, we were always expecting to lose 2-0

Is Head really a test batsman? Technique seems a bit shaky to me.
