I see the Coleman era at Gordon has got off to a terrific start, with there website showing they won the Hamilton Sevens tournament beating teams such as Randwick, Rats, Norths and Easts.

Looks like Coleman has started to instill the belief and structures that Gordon have been missing the last couple of years. (And also recruited well)

Perhaps an indication of things to come in 15s....(Not saying they will make finals but may give it a shake!)

The last couple of years? Try the last couple of decades. It seems like that long since Gordon had a serious first grade presence.

Let us hope that the corner has been reached, and hopefully turned. It is beyond ridiculous that a club based right in the middle of what used to be rugby's heartland has floundered so badly.

It’s much better to hate them, than to pity them....

Worth noting that the Gordon 2nd team were desperately unlucky not to proceed to semis, winning 3 of their 4 poool matches.
Also, the Gordon U19s team took out that division, defeating a large and fast Two Blues team in a tight final.
Probably a lot more at play than just the Coleman factor, but he seems to have instilled a much needed belief through the entire Club.

1st grade Premiers in 1998, which is also their last grand final appearance.
2nd grade Premiers in 1981, last grand final appearance 2009
1st colts never won, last grand final appearance 1996
2nd colts Premiers 1998, which is also their last grand final appearance
3rd colts Premiers 2009, which is also their last grand final appearance

I wonder who might be responsible for this ridiculous situation?

Those charged with the propagation and development of the code?;)

Dear oh bloody dear. So it is all the fault of somebody else, is it? Not the amazingly inept series of mistakes and own goals that the Highlanders have inflicted on themselves over the years?

7s means nothing though really. I mean yeh great, they won something, but means nothing for the season. everybody is still expecting them to get spanked in 15s. Parra were always good at 7s, and Penrith, but theyre look how they are in 15s nowadays (penrith extinct). looking at their named teams for the 7s, didnt look like gordon, or norths or the others had their main teams around. and looking at the new players at gordon, didnt really read of note anyone who would make a massive impact in 15s.

comparing them to say eastwood, who apparently will have the best backline in the comp now - snowden, adams, the west 12, pama fou, goodall, pete schuster, windon. thats a dominant team and thats what you call some big recruitment and plenty of $$ spent.

also hearing manly and randwick have quite a few new imports. manly from nz and randwick from all over australia. they should be good.

Geez QH , last year must have been a blur, from the Colts 2018 page Gordon had all 3 colts sides in the grand final and a fairly positive season including a whitewash of Sydney Uni at their home ground.
Hopefully they can retain the playing group over the years ahead..

Good to hear Souths have recruited some key players (particularly forwards) and will be very strong this year..

I guess I was trying to look at the positives. Whilst I agree that a strong 7s side doesn't translate into 15s, I honestly believe a couple of wins (Albiet Pre-season/7s) can start to build confidence and belief in a grade side who previously had little and that momentum and standards can be taking into the start of the season.

PS That Eastwood Back line is red hot and worth the price of admission alone.

Yeh, i guess thats a fair call. and i suppose for them, a bit of a win is a change and something they will see as a massive positive.

That eastwood team will be tough to beat. i still think uni will be the benchmark, but depending how woods go in the forwards (which theyre predominantly very strong in), i think they will be the team to challenge the corporate.

I think they will be good. lost a few forwards and backs just heading back interstate, but they have recruited really well and have some new xfactor in the backs.

I think its going to be a really really close season. i think the bottom 3 will be pretty far off - wests, parra rock bottom, gordon improving and more competitive but way to far off the rest of the pack which will be extremely close for finals spot.

My apologies, I was going off a historical page and it didn't go up to 2018. I stand corrected.

Two Blues Granville Park Update,

Grandstand now demolished, demolition well under way.

Two Blues to rise from the ashes.. Or the asbestos dust as the case may be,

Can't kill the Two Blues with an axe.:)

Who knows, one day the NSWRU will realise that Parramatta still exist.;)
