Your favourite Wallaby XV

Another Friday, another thread.

This one is far more subjective. Name a XV of your favourite Wallabies. Don't have to be the best players, just the ones you liked the most.

I'll go first.

1. Benn Robinson
2. Jeremy Paul
3. Al Baxter
4. Nathan Sharpe
5. John Eales
6. Scott Fardy
7. George Smith
8. Cliff Palu

9. Will Genia
10. Steve Larkham
11. Nick Cummins
12. Ant Fainga'a
13. Stirling Mortlock
14. Scott Staniforth
15. Chris Latham

I always had a soft spot for Al Baxter, something about the harsh criticism made me really happy when he had some success later in his career.

In fact I'm generally a sucker for late career success - Nathan Sharpe's late renaissance, Scott Fardy, old George Smith and old Stirling Mortlock, and a guy like Scott Staniforth who never really got the chance he deserved.

Ant Fainga'a was always so honest, and I really thought the Honey Badger had some great moments. Ultimately he was let down by his decision making (he really needed to do more to keep Brook on the show, and keeping Cass around until home town week was such a bad choice).

And Latho's long torpedo punts will always warm my heart.

Anyway, over to you, the unwashed lunatics of the forum.

Mate, I've put up with your outrageously one-eyed Waratahs bleating. I've put up with a lot on this forum. But you just crossed the line there, clearly Brooke was too good for him and his hand was forced by the producers with Cass. Also, I respect not choosing anyone at the end, man is brave.

OK,

Robinson, Paul, Palmer, Harrison, Vickerman, Fardy, Smith, McMahon, Gregan, Larkham, Roff, Horan, Mortlock, Rathbone, Latham. Would like to put Poey in there too but can't use him at 8 on principle.

Ben Tune is unlucky to miss out. On reflection, Totai Kefu should have the No 8 spot.

Dan Palmer, now there's a name I've forgotten. The great white hope of Australian scrummaging.

We never got to see the best of him, a bit like Ben Darwin.

I'll agree his final stance was brave, I respected that. But he should never have been in a position where that had to happen. But we digress.......

Way too hard. Way too hard.

Amateur era

15 Marty Roebuck
14 Rob Egerton
13 Andrew Slack
12 Brett Papworth
11 David Campese
10 Lloyd Walker
9 Peter Slattery

8 Willie O
7 Scott Gourley
6 Illie Tabua
5 John Eales
4 Garrick Morgan
3 Topo Rodrigez
2 Phil Kearns
1 Tony Daly

Kills me to leave out Michael Lynagh, but Walker's deft passing does it for me.

Professional era

15 Chris Latham
14 Ben Tune
13 Dan Herbert
12 Tim Horan
11 Andrew Walker
10 Steve Larkham
9 Matt Giteau
8 Jim Williams
7 George Smith
6 Sean McMahon
5 Radike Samo
4 Adam Coleman
3 Taniela Tupou
2 Brendan Cannon
1 Matt Dunning

Again, would love to fit in QC (Quade Cooper) but Larkham can't be omitted.

The younger you are, the easier this is.

Yep, my team gives away my age. I have a bit over a decade to choose from:

1. James Slipper
2. Stephen Moore
3. Dan Palmer
4. James Horwill
5. Dan Vickerman
6. Ben Mowen
7. Liam Gill
8. Radike Samo
9. Will Genia
10. Berrick Barnes
11. Joe Tomane
12. Pat McCabe
13. Stirling Mortlock
14. Drew Mitchell
15. Luke Morahan

I just think most of those guys are solid respectable blokes. Never thought Barnes was particularly amazing just a funny dude. I've also noticed most of my team has sported solid moustaches at one stage or another. Maybe that's why I like them.

Also, Morahan's try against the Lions gets him in for me.

no such thing as a "favourite" wallaby XV so for the purposes of this post I will change it to "most feared". Those wobs that had me feeling a wee bit antsy at test match time

1. oops at a loss already
2.
3. ?
4. Greg Cornelson 4 try freak, thanks for the memories you **** ********* ****. Don't tell me he was a#8, the c*** was 3 metres tall.
5. Vickerman
6. Finnegan. terror.
7. Pocock
8. Kefu
9. Gregan
10. Ella. should say Larkham I know but my memories of Ella he was hell on skates
11. Tuquri
12. O'Connor. he was a real concern at RWC2011
13. Herbert (no offense but **** this guy)
14. Mat Rogers. for a brief spell he was dancing around the ab's, f*** this guy too
15. Chris Latham

Now for a really one-eyed favourite Wallaby XV:

Robinson
TPN
Kepu
Welborn
Vickerman
Brial
Hooper
Gavin
Payne
Larkham
Roff
Barnes
AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
Tuqiri
Beale

Difficult to select Larkham and Roff given they never played for Eastern Suburbs nor the Waratahs but there you have it.

I remember those days when we had a formidable pack :(

I'd have both Loane and Shaw in my amateur team. The games I've seen them in they were monsters. But yeah I've got a soft spot for Willie O & the Human Skewer!

with all due respect Wam, with Lee Grant no longer posting, I doubt any of us have actually seen him play.

Beer Baron

Phil Hardcastle (33)
Probably right, Reg. You poor buggers. Think what you missed out on!!!

1. Slipper - seems like an unlucky good dude.
2. Foley - as a kid the way he threw the ball was cool, everyone tried to copy.
3. Thor - watching him drop back to fullback in club rugby for kick returns is funny (unless your the first defender)
4. Vickerman
5. Rodda - early call
6. Cockbain - the first forward i thought was an "enforcer"
7. Gill - the one handed lineout steal behind his back. Did some magical things for reds whilst young.
8. Willie O - loved saying his name...

9. Any half back that doesn't take two steps. (early Genia and early Gregan)
10. Flatley - First superstar
11 Hynes - Mr Reliable
12 N Grey - Crash ball king
13 A Faianga - Defence was unbelievable
14 Tune - allowing kids to wind themselves worldwide.
15 Latham - Torpedo, despite socks down behaviour

Not the best team but fun!
