ISA 2019

.And the least encumbered with history or tradition. I don't mean to paint those qualities as negatives, rather, it allows them to be more agile, flexible with membership ad respond to change quicker.

Hello DaSchmooze
Excellent point, the GPS Schools in particular are bounded by tradition to the point, they will be resistant to change even its self-destructive for their own competition. Their inability to include a school such as Knox, when Grammar had clearly thrown the Rugby ball away, is but one example of high bound tradition, at the expense of a renewed competition.

Oaks couldn’t hold on against Trinitiy 1’s today going down 15-19. Trinity scored with 2 minutes to go to steal Oakhills first victory

Are the oaks struggling this year? whats the cause?
Oakhill struggled early to significant injuries and a constantly changing team using 35 different players. Two season ending injuries to some of the better forwards, ACL to the hooker, and a shoulder reconstruction to flanker has significantly weakened the team. How ever in recent weeks due to some consistency in selection the team has been playing better footy. However don’t expect Oakhill to finish in the upper side of the ladder with a weaker team compared to teams in the past.

Interesting results from last weekend with encouraging performances by both Pius and Oakhill, and Auggies held scoreless for the second week in a row. In addition Greg’s were beaten by Cranbrook (I think - could somebody confirm?). Could be a very even comp this year.

Yeah, Greg's went down to Cranbrook, 40-24, with Cranbrook scoring a converted try on the bell. Only saw the 2nd half, fairly evenly matched, although Greg's bombed a couple of tries with the last pass missing its target. Cranbrook had a half time lead, scoring off Greg's errors was how I understood the first half went

St Pats played Riverview 2nds on the weekend with the boys in black losing the fixture 7-17. A bigger performance against Auggies 1's will be needed if they want to start their ISA season with a bang. This season has proved to exacerbate the difference between the ISA competition in comparison to the GPS, however, with Gregs only going down to red-hot Cranbrook from CAS by 16 and Oakhill only losing in the last 2 minutes of their fixture against Trinity (again from CAS), one must believe that in fact ISA is catching up CAS but are still miles behind GPS. More posts to come

Cracking game of rugby scoreless at halftime, 2 players sent off one from each side.
Scored changed 3 times in the last 5 minutes.
Both teams played their hearts out.

Got to love schoolboy rugby

Any other ISA scores??

Pats went down against Auggies over at Rat Park by only about 12. Not St Pat's best game today which various injuries and positional changes causing some issues for the boys in black. For anyone planning on travelling out to Augustines, get ready for a barrage of immaturity from their spectators (especially students) along with high levels of corruption and unsportsman like behaviour from their players. As a spectator of the game, there is nothing worse than driving more than an hour to watch your son play rugby in the least accomodating environment known to the ISA. Whilst rivalry and passion are all essential parts of schoolboy rugby, Pats parents and boys being continuously mocked and taunted by Augustines students was a joke.
Great to hear how close that other game was, may be too early to tell but what is your predicted ISA ladder Chris ??

Well, it looks like the tide is turning. Not so long ago the boys from St Patrick’s would travel to Pittwater Park and get absolutely flogged in every age/game. A different story today- Auggies won 1st XV (as reported above), but St Pats won the 2nds and the 3rds was a draw. Furthermore the 16As was a win to Auggies 17-7. Looks to me that the ISA is starting to level out with all games today apparent contests and the aura of Auggies quickly disappearing. This is going to be a fantastic season - best in years IMHO. On a side note, the Auggies side today was the smallest Auggies team I have ever seen - and I have been watching them for 15 years. The forward who wears the red headgear (sorry, don’t know his name) wasn’t there - injured?

Langi Gleeson (red headgear) didn't play, some injuries to return and some on League rep duties
