Petaia got injured 15 minutes into the Reds second game of the season. Surely being overplayed wasn't an issue.

I think the combination of Jordan Petaia and Jordan Uelese makes it pretty clear that being named Jordan increases your risk of injury substantially.

Michael Jordan
Jordan Speith

I think we are onto something here. It’s actually not injury but greatness

Perhaps change the following names

Jordan Phipps,
Jordan Hanigan,
Etc.

Surely would see a World Cup win.

What? Do you have a scientific paper that proves younger players are more likely to get injured?

Not saying your wrong. just I’m amazed coaches would consider that younger players need their minutes managed due to injury risk.

Unfortunately the journals returning from some Google searches are behind paywalls. But from the news articles, injuries are higher for younger players for a couple of reasons; their ligaments etc lag behind the muscle growth so a rolled ankle for an Adult may have a great impact on a younger person. Then there's the fact the young guys want to impress so they play through injuries when they should rest.

It's not so much a case of being overplayed, but not having a body that's had time to adapt to the higher intensity and for Petaia, he put a lot of bulk on over the off season. So he is/was still growing into his body.

When you look at other 'contact' based sports in NFL and even to a lesser extent Football. The former has 19-22 year olds going to College to play other aged adults and Football (in Europe) has a similar U19-U23 program which focusses on the youth developing skills and physically before going to the Pro leagues.

All I'm saying is, it should not have been unexpected that Petaia picked up a significant injury and that a coverage plan of a guy who's Hammy's are holding on by a single muscle strain wasn't a proper plan.

Samu is the best player in the Reds. In Australia we have a real tendency to put a lot of weight on players who are injured, or playing elsewhere, who have showed promise. Until Jordy has an entire season performing at Super level I'm not going to put his name up in lights. My hope is that he comes out next year and proves you correct.

Jordy is so much more complete than Samu. But I realise your perspective on this is the more popular, which often means it’s correct.

But I would take Jordy every time.

I think most people's position is that one has done a lot already (Kerevi) whereas the other (Petaia) has a huge amount of promise that he hasn't really had a chance to deliver on yet.

If you're judging them on their career to date then Kerevi is a long way ahead.

If you're judging them on potential then it's pretty easy to pick Petaia.

Yep, I agree for the most part.

I guess what I saying is that even on exposed form, not nessessarily future ceiling, I would still take Jordy as he creates so much for those around - and is so good on both sides of the ball.

He has the ability to connect both the inside and outside backs. Very valuable, and pretty rare in oz rugby.

If the last two matches go on form, we will finish with 5 wins. Same amount as 2017 when Stiles was sacked.

Reds coach selections will send the place broke

To be fair - risky business going to the Reds thread after a Reds match if you don''t want to know the result.

no doubt... i was on this page last night before the match and just hit refresh on the ipad without thinking too much about it

Spare me.

Stiles is a spud, he is now coach of a second-division team in Japan.

Thorn is doing great things from a forwards point of view, we just need a bit more talent out back.

Be more specific about your concerns/criticisms/issues..
