Can the data nerds establish a way to count the dropped balls and knock ons when we're within 10m of the try line? We're fine scoring from longer range but get the ball within a sniff of the chalk and they all grow tits for hands.

Spare a thought for me, chaps. I've bearing the dual cross of supporting the Rebels and Essendon. Has there been a more abject decade for sports fans? Probably, but it's fucking rubbish to be neck deep in it. At least in the league us Mexicans have a port in the Storm.

Lightweight, Rebels and St Kilda me. I really like my misery turned up to 11.

Fark. I read a great interview with either Tim Rogers or Tex Perkins where he basically said he'd be turned off supporting the Saints if they ever became dynastically successful like Hawthorn/Geelong/Sydney. Something about the mythos of the club being battlers was a core part of the romance of supporting them.

Not sure I agree - leaving Richmond on a Friday night after a rousing win is a pretty great way to start the weekend.

Didn’t quite win that one hey.

Had family issues so missed the first 15 minutes. Left after 65 minutes and missed the Rebels try as we were in the lift.

To have so many players with so much international experience and to play so cluelessly in so many games is incredibly frustrating. Not helped by Zebra playing his best game at AAMI park.

It's not so much the results that concern me, but now another sponsor looks like it wont be able to stay the course. Thai Airways made a whopping 11.6 bn baht loss in 2018 that's about 365mn USD, up from a mere 2.1 bn baht loss the previous year.

The last three rounds have been, frankly, disgusting. The only bright side for me is that I didn't support that dross with membership monies.

Back by the Thai govt. I think they'll be fine

While i'm exorcising my weekend's demons, I'm unsurprised but shitty about senior players reflecting on how their performance will impact on wallaby selections. Emblematic of how and why a team fails imo. A bunch of individuals with individual ambitions.

Just can't stop feeling angry about the season and the piss poor results. The fact that we only missed finals by 1 game yet lost 4 home games is a disgrace to the team and the competition.

First thing comes to mind is the Highlanders must be kicking themselves, they play the Crusaders this weekend where if they had sent there A team against us they would be facing the Brumbies.

Secondly, the only coach I would be disappointed to lose is Geoff Parling. The line out this year is the only positive for me. Would call him into the Wallabies set up till the end of the World Cup as well.

It was in stark contrast to flying start, unbeaten in the opening four rounds with well over a dozen players looking in contention for a Test call-up.

Now the only players who could feel confident are halfback Will Genia, five-eighth Matt To'omua, utility backs Hodge and Dane Haylett-Petty, winger Marika Koroibete and lock Adam Coleman.

If I was selecting the Wallabies, the only player on that list who is confident is Genia, that's cause they take 3 half backs.
Matt To'omua, did not bring anything when arriving from England
Hodge, missed the start of the season when the Rebels actually played well, never looked good in the 13 jersey and is lucky he can cover from 10-15 off the bench. If he was a one position player he would be nowhere near selection.
DHP: The last 5 games of the season he did himself no favours, Rebels captaincy must be a curse since Higgers left. Cause no one who has taken the arm band has done themselves any favours. Stirzaker, Coleman, DHP all had crapidy crap seasons when in charge.
Koroibete, stood out when the team played poor, but on the other side when the Rebels played well he was missing. Borderline call, I would pick Sefa every day of the week cause he is a lot more reliable in defence.
Coleman, will make Wallabies. The question is how, it's the one position with good depth in Australia and on form his not in the top 4 locks in the country. He would struggle to make top 8 with Rodda, Simmons, Arnold x2, Carter, Hockings, Hanigan, Philip all having better seasons than Coleman.

The only Rebels I would have near Wallabies selection is Isi and Jones, Jones only at 6. The Wallabies back row has been costing them test matches for 4 years now, All the Australian sides have good 7's except for us. How much Colby, McMahon or Reid would have made a difference to our pack.

The Wallabies need Jones at 6, his lineout work alone would make a difference to there results. Isi and 8 who plays like an 8, runs the ball like an 8 and does the on field jobs of an 8. Starting those two with Hooper (Pocock won't be fit) should balance out the pack for the Wallabies.

Time to get back to work.

Still give the Season a Big Fat F

and agree with much of this. Parling's work with the lineout is about the only positive i can find. Naisarani and Jones are the only two deserving of Wallaby selection, Genia will be, i suspect that Coleman, To'omua, Koroibete also.

Also, alarming was Maddock's drop off in form. It seems most of the problems were mental: changing the game plan when plan A doesn't work, seeing what's in front of them, thinking correctly under pressure

Not much to debate in there KO, but I do note your comment about how good the two Arnolds played this year. In fact, Richie has been in France all year, but I can forgive the error as Rory has been playing like two locks in every game this year.

Sorry sidenote - Blyth outplayed the shit of of Hockings who has a clear lack of muscle which is impacting his scrummaging. Packed in behind Thor and they got rolled.

In your opinion of course. I thought Hockings was exceptional this year. Blythe was very good but I think Hockings is a rare talent.

But I note that Richie did start for toulouse in their Top 14 final win!

Still doesn't put him in the running for a Wallabies squad spot, unfortunately. Is not that far off Rory in terms of skills and ability. Hope they will both be back before RWC 2023.

So Rebels were provided with millions by the Vic Govt following the decision to scrap the Force, what happened with that money
