The tahs are very bare in the cupboard for players next year, they could do worse than signing the top half of the current Aussie 20's side where able then filling out the rest of the squad with experienced journeymen

Adam Freier is extremely experienced, that is for sure. (I would propose Ed Craig from Eastwood instead, he is a good young player).

Surely the Tahs wouldn't dumb enough to keep Latu?

meant more-so including the wider squad with some in match day 23 - it's going to be a year or two of rebuilding anyway, may as well do it with some young but really talented players

you've also included a few that aren't signed

Sure, but at this stage a lot of players that have neither committed elsewhere nor rumoured to be leaving will most likely be in the process of negotiating a new contract.

Donaldson and Tafa would be a couple more from the under 20s that should be part of next year's main squad.

It would be nice to see them sign a couple of locks and a damaging #8/#6 to complement Wells and Swinton. TBH that was my comment before this season commenced and the Sharks game really showed that they were lacking size and muscle from #4 - #8.

Its also a shame they didn't get Nick Frost when he came back from Crusaders. Good athlete by the look of it.

I believe we've signed (or are signing) Max Douglas who could fit that bill at lock.

Harris and Tafa will hopefully be the ball running number 8 we need to add.

2020 will be make or break for Ryan McCauley and we will see whether Staniforth can continue to improve. 2019 was Staniforth's best season of rugby and he did improve his physicality a bit but he's still not damaging with ball in hand and his ball handling skills are pretty average.

A great afternoon would be the Tahs announcing Simon Cron as head coach for 2020 (this should have been done in February) after negotiations with Toyota Verblitz to release/cancel the contract to go to Japan next year.

Surely you could find someone with even less experience of professional rugby coaching out there somewhere. Reds are setting the benchmark in this space.

The cupboard is definitely bare when we have Clark, Newsome and Maddocks as the back three. While there's still an issue with the forward pack, I just can't see how we will be capable of scoring any points with that backline?

Maddocks was =5th highest try scorer in the comp this year.

I think we need a strike winger but I'm not sure one is available right now. Maddocks would certainly be a good recruit.

I hope Nawaqanitawase develops into a really good player. He has the size and skills.

That's almost certainly a bottom half of the table team. Still, probably won't be wooden spooners.

I didn't notice anything from Staniforth that suggests hes anything better than an emergency back up.

I agree. It's missing a few key pieces.

The Australian teams are going to get worse next year given the players that we are losing. The question will be how they change relative to each other and whether NZ and SA are affected to the same degree. NZ is losing a ton of players but they have a better ability to replace them.

most of them were catch and put down efforts, while its great to be able to do that and be in the right place at the right time his place on the list is more an indication of the Rebels playing style than his individual talent as a winger
