No idea! Wish it was territorial. North and south of the Brisbane river like the old East coast Aces and ballymore tornados
They do try to put a country tinge to it (thus Hockings, Blythe, Stewart, McDermott etc). But in the end they need to get the best players playing the right positions so changing is appropriate. There has been many players who have played for BRisbane and QLD (like there have been many players who have played multiple clubs, Super Rugby teams and even countries!)

Put a bit of honour and pride into wearing the jersey... let the players develop the rivalries, let the fans make the allegiances to their teams based on where their favourite reds/club rugby player is align too.
Distribute the reds players based on what NRC team they were previously with, plug the holes of the 2 City/country teams by assigning newly promoted Rookies to the NRC teams based on the team needs.
if one team has a weakness or position of need then delve deeper into the talent pool which is club rugby.

Wilson is from Gunnedah will play for country!
McReight is from Aspley, but Wright is from around East Brisbane I imagine based on Churchie etc.

What's happened to Matt Gicquel ? He was a stand out last year at 7 for GPS. Have only seen GPS play three times this year , he was in the team for the Club Champs at the start of the season, wasn't playing in the other games I've seen GPS play, which have been more recent.
Assuming injured?

A very basic summary is that he believes performance is a product of cohesion and skill. So the Rebels had an average performance based on high skill and low cohesion, whereas the Reds probably have a higher cohesion (young players having played together for many years in a row).
They suggest it's the secret behind a lot of success of the Crusaders and the like.
Forming combinations is key.

It's good they try and get the country boys playing for country. I understand that there will always be a need to supplement the country team, but I reckon they could always trial a few smokies playing in the country unions. A bit like an uncapped player playing for the baa baas. I reckon they'd find someone who rises to the occasion and maybe has missed the usual development pathway. Who knows we could unearth another Merrick.
I hope they venture out an about like in previous seasons to places like Rocky, Townsville, T'ba, Mackay & the Sunny Coast.

Had a chat to a NRC qld country player and asked if they trained at Bond due to the sponsorship on their jersey.
Everything is done at Ballymore.
If we are too bring the smokies to the Big Smoke then it’s gotta involve cost cutting on the already no frills national comp.
Maybe put em up on a couch with some of the reds family.
Alternatively... why not do what’s happening with Fiji/Samoa in rapid rugby... when those teams are playing games in Auckland or Brisbane they are drawing from the Polynesian talent pools in the club rugby ranks of those cities.
Stick a Townsville boy on the bench when in Townsville and give him 20 minutes at the end of the game.

^ Cheers SX. I think we aught to find the money, we're not talking big $ to put a few young blokes up for a couple of months & compensating them for time off. I think of it as improving the links between professional game and the community. How great would it be to know that there were a few spots up for grabs every season exclusively for country based players.

Just a few questions I would like discussed. There has been alot of discussion with regard to who should be picked in NRC and why?.
Should a player 28-30YO who has had another great year (but is not being considered for the Reds) be selected in a NRC team or a 20-22 YO who is showing promise and plays in the same position, be selectedin a NRC Team?
Is NRC about winning the comp or showing tallent and exposing it to the next level?
A few of the players in the two teams mentioned above haven't played much Reds rugby and Club rugby due to selections and injury. How do they merit a position over a player who has played a full season in the QRU in the same position? Is this reputation based or performance based?

I'm not going to name names but with team 1 and 2 named above there are players in both squads who have played very few games this year (if none at all). These are mainly due to injury or unavailability due to surgury and I also know that they are not the final sellected NRC sides.
But, with no form to speak of for this season, they can only be considered on reputation, not current form.
I think this would be unfair on the players who have played and performed throughout this QRU season.

well when selecting players for the NRC they are always going to start with the Reds contracted players who are not in the Wallaby squad. So that's why the likes of Jack Hardy, Jordy Petaia, etc are picked. And deservedly so. Hardy et al needs more experience at the next level and this should provide it.
