Ashes 2019

Except he had never shown remotely this sort of form with the bat when he previously played test cricket. I don't think you can take his past test record as an indication of how he will go this time.

I would agree with that. Previously he was keeping, whereas now he's essentially a specialist batsman at test level. His runs are hard to ignore in comparison to other candidates to bat at 6.

Perhaps, though his FC average is a healthy 50 so there is a large difference. I hope I'm wrong as I want to smash the poms 5-0.

There are a couple of reasons why Bancroft could be picked. Firstly, he's a right hander. Potentially the OZ team could have five lefties if Harris was picked. The second would be Bangers form, especially on that goat track they played the trial game on. The 90-odd he scored was a match winning innings. In terms of the comparison between him and Harris, I reckon they're both on par. They've both scored similar runs of late. I do worry about Harris' temperament, though, where we gets out to a loose shot when seemingly well set.
I’m most worried about Harris having an aimless waft outside off when he’s nearing or just gone past 50. Bancroft’s not as pretty but he can graft runs.

Would be a pretty incredible arc if Warner, Bancroft, and Smith all return to test cricket at the same time.

Langer is a fan of Bangers - probably sees a bit of himself there. While I will be disappointed if Starc is not selected. I would die a thousand deaths if they put Siddle in. Wade has earned his shot and hope he takes it with both hands. CAnt wait for the first ball tonight.

Shaky start. Good listening to Aggers and Boycott on the BBC commentary using the ABC listen app.

I missed the first hour where Warner and Bangers went cheaply. The last hour and a half been a mix. Kawaja got out to a good ball and Smith and Head working hard for their runs.

So I'd say just not adapting to English conditions. A lot of the ribs off the back foot.

Wouldn't it be a shame if he were to play no part in the rest of the match. It would serve the England selectors right for doing what they've done so often in the past: picking half fit players.

I can’t believe Steve Smith. The guy is just ridiculously clutch. Great work from Sidds as well, could teach our top order a thing or two about grit and tenacity.
