QLD GPS Rugby 2019

Can’t explain Churchies point but looks like the algorithm sorts by alphabetical order rather than percentage. Basically this is just another spectacular failure by RA administration. Get onto the the junior RL or AFL websites and their results pages are fantastic in comparison. #sackraelene
This is either incompetency or a conspiracy at the highest levels!! I think it’s well past time we had a Royal Commission to address these issues along with uncontested scrums by 14 year kids. In my day we had to walk all the way from Toowong train station and up Moggill road to get to school. It was a mild incline! No Ubers back then. Kids today have it too easy.

So, back to the main stage this week. A game that will really change the top 4. NC vs IGS at Ippy. A Nudgee win will leave TSS and BBC sitting a game clear, or can IGS take the goodies at home and further derail Nudgees season. Thoughts?

IGS to win by 7-9pts

Congrats on your vast network of rugby contacts,
You have either:
1) contacted the dir of rugby & 14A coaches of the 4 remaining schools to play the mighty NC 14A;OR
2) you are listening to gossip.

A wise man once said "it is out of touch scrum doctors like you that have caused GPS football numbers to now double that of rugby"
Keep it up and NC can scrum each other each week.

IGS U14A to beat your mighty NC U14A by 20+pts.
There is no U14 scrum in the comp that can match the IGS scrum.
Last yr IGS 13A thrashed NC 47-5.

^ Agree it's a danger game for NC.

If their forwards control possession , they should get the chocolates . I'm sure they will approach the game with a keep it tight mindset and try to grind out a win with little opportunities for IGS to shine. Ippy didn't look good in the first half against TGS when things were tight, they did however turn on the points in the second half.

If NC turnover ball and give Ippy a sniff, they will need to score a lot of points to win.

So your not so confident only picking 20 pts instead of a potential 40? Unfortunately scrums may not be as potent as in higher grades, due to the limited "push" law. < than 13 for mine.

I'll take NC heads up at the odds with a cover beat on the points spread. The IGS scrum won't have mush impact on BBC (nor GT if last weekend was any indication)!!

There is not much similarity between NC U13 2018 and U14 2019 - IGS are big but this will be their last year in the top 2 IMO and they are vulnerable to NC and ACGS this year.

I hear the QRU has sought input from Clubs on Colts moving to under 20s next year.
The majority of boys finishing this year will turn 18 in 2020. Due to the 2 year age gap they will require dispensation to play U20s.
I haven’t heard this but it may be aligned with the National U20s movement. It is proven that most teenagers don’t come into their primal development until the age of 19, so this gives these players that extra year to develop for open / Prems rugby, rather than being held back in lower divisions. Smart move.

Correct Jet, certainly if they defend like they did against GT, it will be tighter than an otters pocket.
Seriously Sage, where do you think our boys are at? I thought we were going to come out firing in Round 1 but there seems to be a massive disconnect. Maybe a bit exaggerated but far out.

Agreed, not much similarity between NC u13A 2018 and U14A.
Gledhill has made a lot of tactical changes. Last year in the corresponding game NC turned over a lot of ball in their own half after many phases of of one out stuff. Look for a lot kicking out of trouble and keep,an eye on the talented 10 and 12.

BBC v Downland will be another win to the boy from the bush. I am tipping them by 20+

I agree it’s a good Downlands side who just accounted for the TGS side who just accounted for your GT side. And if it’s the same ref that played for GT that could help and they might get 20 against the BBC 2nds. BTW the firsts have only had 17 scored against them in 3 games and with a few of the 6 players out from when they accounted for GT will have a trot to level things up.

Well it's probably a combination of being a bit too individual and not have complete trust at this stage. The leaders this year have been solid, but don't seem to have the spark of last year. So it is all in front of them. I think the TSS game was a very good performance and they could have lost that one by a lot, but didn't. Since then they look like a completely different team; maybe they were deflated a little? maybe one guy is relying on another to do their work? Their defense work has lapsed a little; waiting instead of a straight line and up. I don't know, can't put my finger on it.

But at this stage they look a little vulnerable and only THEY can improve that themselves. THEY can do it, a little self belief. Bit of a mental thing for them at the moment and they just need to do it; make a spark, set that TNT ON, do their job, and then help others do theirs as well.

But from my experience the best thing to do is to get the basics right; tackle (don't grapple) and be there in numbers, draw and pass, run straight, get in their faces, simple and easy line-outs (even if repetitive) and tackle till the final whistle. They look fit so they have the potential, just gotta get their heads right and thinking winning, I suppose. And NO Patriot that doesn't mean win at all costs; just good solid footy, with self belief and trust in each other.
