They seek to nullify everyone with cheap shots, they’ve been getting away with it for years. Hooper would be high on the list of targets, he’s the captain and the only 7 in the 23, not to mention the most influential forward, if not player overall, in the side. To suggest otherwise is simply naive.

What a cracking game last night! Was certainly a change from the negative drivel that has been carted up to us in the last few years! I reckon having CLL on the field certainly helps take the captaincy pressures off Hooper.
My greatest fear about next week, besides being Eden Park, is that Jaco will be marched out as the ref and spoil the whole show.

We never had a 10 with a pinpoint kick to utilise his aerial skills and other teams rapidly structured their blockers to impede his run.
Once that threat was nullified his lack of kicking options was a liability only just balanced by his attacking threat.
I’m not surprised we haven’t struggled in his absence.
With a real no. 8 and two kicking options in the back 3 we are a much more balanced side than in previous years

Yeah - it would be erroneous to paint this in any way as a pre-Folau be Post-Folau thing.

Firstly, it’s still only one game and, prior to yesterday, we still pretty ordinary.

Secondly, there are a whole raft of changes that have nothing to do with Folau being absent. Not least of all that, for the first time in God knows how long, we actually beat up on the ABs forward pack.

Just re-watched the game with sober eyes. a few general thoughts...

- Hard to find a bad performance in that 23. A few bench players didn't get a chance to show us much, but no shockers.
- the Wallabies pack won the collision for most of the night. That, coupled with some excellent service from White, is what won us the game.
- Anyone who suggests the result would have been different had it not been for the Red is kidding themselves. The All Blacks played 65 minutes a man down against the B&I Lions and they lost by 3 points. Of course the score line would have been closer but the reason the flood gates opened early in the second half was that the Wallabies had the All Blacks under constant pressure in the first and continued that dominance in the second half. That constant pressure was one of the most pleasing aspects of our game. Test match rugby is about building pressure and I honestly feel over the last 4 years, we've shown a complete inability to build pressure on our opponents for 80 minutes.
- I certainly wont be going out and getting a "Bledisloe Champs 2019" tattoo just yet. I'm sceptical of our ability to back that up at Eden Park. The All Blacks managed to score 4 tries with not a lot of ball. Playing at Eden Park they're likely to get a lot more Pill and I suspect they'll get away with a lot more / get the rub of the green. The All Blacks wiil be confident of evening the score i reckon. The Elephant in the room is the loss of Retalik and how much that might effect them going forward. If memory serves me correct the last time the Wallabies beat the All Blacks Retalik was rested.
-I like the look of this 23 going forward, save for replacing Jones with Pocock on the bench.

Sea of Blue out in Force at test

If Rugby Australia thought the Western Force would slip away quietly and drop out of sight, they got it completely wrong.

Firstly, they encountered mining magnate Andrew Forrest who, angered by RA’s rejection of his $70 million to keep the Force alive in Super Rugby, launched his own Global Rapid Rugby competition.

Secondly, they misread the passion and depth of anger of the Sea of Blue, the biggest supporter group in Australian rugby.

The pain of axing will never completely subside – even the old saying “time heals old wounds” does not hold water in WA. And last night thousands of fans swapped Wallabies gold for Force blue while other openly boycotted the game.

The stadium rang with the famous “Force, Force” chant during the game to let RA chief executive Raelene Castle who was at the game know that they had not gone away.
(Get to hear the “Force” chant from the 59 minutes mark of the Test. Let’s you know how many Force supporters were at the game.)

The first Bledisloe Cup match played in Perth sold out within a week of going on sale, showing there remains strong support for the code in WA.
Optus brought in 3,500 drop-in seats, which pushed the crowd to 61,241, beating the stadium record for a sporting event.

But a one-off nod to WA, even one as big as the Bledisloe, is not going to end the tension for what fans, including Mr Forrest, see as a gross injustice.
Ms Castle said she sympathises with the plight of Fans. “We understand the hurt that has been caused by not having the Western Force,” she said.

Sea of Blue fan club and Force foundation member Geoff Kelly said: “It hurts not having the Force very much. This protest is not against the players. It is against the people involved in the decision who have no real idea what they have done.”

Another active Sea of Blue member and one of the most vocal campaigners in the “Save the Force” campaign, Alison Foskett said: “It really hurts still. We want to show how much rugby means to us in the west and how much having our Force means. We want to show the rest of Australia we are still here, still strong and want to enjoy professional rugby.”

Yeh Hooper looked targeted as was subject to couple of high shots and niggle (eg. pushing his head towards the ground).
