Canberra Vikings 2019

Brumby Runner

David Wilson (68)
Some ideas on what the Vikings squad might look like this year (2019) :

Props : Fifita, Ross, Wagner,

Hookers : McInerney, Lonergan,

Locks : Douglas, Enever, Swain, Frost,

Backrow : McCaffrey, Samu, Valetini, Brown, Miller (?),

No9 : Lonergan, Lucas,

No 10 : Kuenzle, Lolesio, Pasitoa,

Centres : Ikitau, Simone, Wright,

Outside Backs : Muirhead, Pulu, Speight (?), Hansen,

Need some extra cover at Prop, Hooker, No 9, Centre and Outside Backs. Any suggestions?

Are all of the above available?

Murray Douglas has gone to Edinburgh as World Cup cover.
Doubt Speight will play NRC.

That new scrum half, Albert, could be involved, maybe Pedro Rolando if Lucas doesn't play.
If they sort out what is happening with Les Makin then he cover prop

Alberts is still at school isn't he? So is Pasitoa. Prefer they actually just focus on their schooling in September/October.

Jahrome Brown named in the Waikato Mitre 10 side. Back row still looks strong.

10 potentially 12 games compared with 7 or 9 in NRC and at a higher level. I'd imagine this will reset his availability for the Wallabies which makes me think if he makes a good fist of his Brumbies contract (next two seasons) he will be lost after.

I do sincerely hope to see George Morseu get a run (although there's obviously a lot of talent ahead of him). For those unfamiliar with the man, he's an indigenous former league player from NQ. He looks too small for rugby, but is cartoonishly fast, I cannot stress how ridiculous his pace is. Also, his left foot step has been listed in version 10 of the International Classification of Diseases an Related Health Problems (ICD10), due to its tendency to cause severe neck injuries in spectators.

So, potentially a starting xv of :

Wagner, McInerny, Ross, Swain, Enever, Valetini, Miller, Samu, Powell, Keunzle, Pulu, Simone, Ikitau, Wright, Banks.

A few class player likely to come in for perhaps alternate games - Muirhead, Hansen, Lolesio, Lonegan x 2, Allen, Frost.

Who's missing? Fifita? Others?

The front row, particularly the depth appears to be the weak spot of the team.

It's interesting that some of local players such as Lincoln Smith & Brendan Jimenez were not picked over Andrew Robinson & George Morseu. They have much more potential at a higher level.

I'm not sure where Taliauli & McCaffrey are??

This is why I enjoy the NRC.

Looks like George will have even more competition for a spot this weekend. Joe Powell ignored by Cheika once again. Can't see why he wouldn't just come home to at least get some game time.

I hope he doesn't get disheartened by Cheika's poor treatment of him and decide to take an overseas contract. Appears to be a similar situation to the one Nic White found himself in before the last RWC.

As much as I like Powell, I think he's on borrowed time as the Brumbies' 9 anyway; Lonergan is a star in the making.
