NC with the strong Pasitoa kicking game both in general play and for goal have a huge advantage today - this westerly will favour the team with their backs to Sandgate Road - still I live in hope BBC will play the same football that saw their general play outperform TSS and hopefully Ripley has his boot on song for a BBC victory by 8 points.

Lineout is going to be key. NC will kick for touch a lot knowing they have a good chance of getting the ball back. Scrums should be evenish. Both packs will win on their own feeds and I don't see a lot of pushover tries or uncontested scrums. I think NC will probably take the points slightly in breakdowns and turnovers, especially at home.

Pasitoa is probably going to be the edge in the backs but both teams have a lot of talent from 9 to 15.

BBC backs are bloody dangerous on the front foot though, and attack wide consistently with speed, and have the best defense on paper.

I think Nudgee will slow BBC's game down and take the win by 7-10 points. Its been a good season for both teams and hopefully it will be good game. Good luck to all.

Agreed. Well said. BBC won’t have a chance throwing away 4 line outs this week.

BBC have the best defense on paper.

Paper thin in a couple of spots unfortunately.

You can't play with 1 to 2 players down ( in effect ) and expect to beat the top teams. Defense and composure cost against TSS - more than the kicking that the casual observer simply hung it on.

And then of course there is the lineouts and kicking on a windy day and what the lineout has been reduced to with a lot of shovel to 1st man - which is also what it was reduced to through last season as well.

It will be a game of fascinating match ups though.

In the tight 5 - BBC probably have a ball running edge - but Nudgee own the scrum and the lineout.

In the loose forwards - Gibson and Nofoagotoa is the marquee match up and one on one it's hard to separate them , even though , I believe Gibson has the higher all round work rate . However , Nudgee own the on ground advantage with Lowrie being the competition's best and Jock Thompson providing a massive advantage in his all round game - line out option , running game , defense , defensive ruck contester and all round aggressive manner.

The 9's aren't close with Nudgee by a mile - and Pasitoa is Pasitoa , even though , Claridge is about the only guys capable of taking him one on one and providing meaningful resistance. Claridge also with a very good long range kicking game and is emerging as a class play facilitator.

Ripley and Lastus is probably the match up of the day , and for me , Lastus has been the competition's form 12. And by a bit. Both guys can punch the line - Lastus just consistently judges his moments a lot better and picks up the links when they are there - probably not as visually appealing for the casual observer - but a more effective Rugby player - on both sides of the ball.

BBC own the 13 spot although Ulia will toil well defensively and just has to link to his wings that own a massive match up advantage in Nudgee's favour with Mapa, Banjo and Muller over Annan ( not a wing ) and replacement Brad Altman ( a utility replacement ) for Byron Johnson .

On reputation, and on paper , Bowyer is > than Athan Waia , however , Waia has quietly put together a helluva season , has a booming left boot that will come into play today , and , if I had to put together an "all defense back 3" in the 2019 class - he'd be in it with IGS's Ethan King and BBC's Byron Johnson

Nudgee with too many match up advantages ( the biggest one being Coaching and Management ) and are much better balanced and put together.

I don't reckon it will be close

Don’t even

I can see it now...the Ippy game ends 5 minutes earlier with an unbelievable, against the odds IGS win.

Its midnight here, so I quietly punch the air in jubilation, spilling my drink and ruining something around me , hopefully not my laptop.

Then I switch back to watch the last 3 minutes of a tight NC vs BBC game only to witness a tied game....

Or, I switch back to see a historic BBC win at Ross. Laptop goes out the window at this point

And then...7 days later BBC lose against BSHS.....

Or TSS just whack IGS and then go celebrate next week while their 2nd XV gives Downlands supporters something to brag about.

Maybe, and today may prove you right, but I think the games so far tell a different story.

Kicking aside, they have out defended and outscored every side they have met so far.

But so have NC, except TSS (two tries apiece). BBC put three on TSS in 20 minutes.

Anyway, its an even game from an objective point of view. Nudgee should win...they may even blow it out by a few tries. BBC is capable of doing the same, but I doubt it. Maybe a close win at best.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know Nudgees worst loss at Ross in the last few decades? Is there one actual website that has all the records? From memory there was with the QLD GPS website, but they seemed to have removed all the archived records.

The truth of it is ......is that the competition is basically a 3.5 team competition and the gap between that and the rest is getting wider and wider .

You can't take bumslayer games and think that's proof of anything - teams who knowingly carried imperfections or deadwood dressed up as hubris have paid the price I guess

The truth is there are only 3 games that basically count. Measure / observe who does what in those and disregard the rest

GO feel free to correct me but I can’t run with your version of the truth - the Facts are BBC have conceded the least amount of tries this season by my calculations- so your paper thin defence comment is totally not the truth.

Tries against
BBC 10
NC 15
TSS 12

True, I think though I am not sure what you are saying. But good and bad years comes and go over the decades, except for Nudgee.

A bad year for NC is finishing third.

The top end of the table have been very good this year.

But the teams at the bottom end of the table have been very bad.

GPS rugby has been chugging along for a long time. A lopsided season this year is not the end of GPS rugby as we know it.

Oracle m’boy , just to correct your context in referencing what I said ....I said , in a couple of spots

The BBC defense is very good , so good in fact , it has managed to carry some poor defenders against bum teams that haven’t been able to take advantage.

I just don’t think that cuts it against the 2 x best teams - as was evidenced down the stretch v TSS and the 20-5 2nd half result. Would have helped to have a kicker , sure , however, it would have helped to also have capable defense across all spots and 1 or 2 more “volume” defenders in the pack that might also be able to create turnover play (given there was no ground pressure and I think from memory only 1 x forced turnover in the 2nd half when TSS were on the march)

I reckon this is a 10 point wind at Ross Oval this afternoon. BBC just have to hold this lead to half time. Fantastic defensive effort so far in this half to keep NC away from try line.
