100% dig themselves out of a very dark hole from an unlucky draw - I would not want to be them playing NC next weekend - last game for a lot of NC veterans coming off the back of yesterday’s defeat.

True, but last games in the school colors for a lot of players all around the grounds this weekend.

NC should win in a canter at least "on paper", but ACGS are also playing with a point to prove, and if they win, they would finish 3rd above Nudgee.

A far cry from the start of the season for Churchie.

Motivation won't be hard to find for either teams, but Churchie have nothing to lose, and in reality they have still only lost 2 games this season.

On the other hand, Nudgee knows 3 losses in any year is bad season for them. Pressure is on the butcher stripes to finish strong.

Agree Howarth was not offside but the ref could be forgiven for getting it wrong as he came up very quickly. It was a great piece of defence by him and he was the difference between the two sides. The send off for the Nudgee boy was a bit strange considering about 30 seconds before an around the neck of the jersey tackle attempt was also made on the Nudgee player. Literally the same area but the tackle was successful, which is not how it should be judged. Nonetheless, BBC fully deserved this win and much respect to them. After being robbed (by their own coach) of the premiership, they will at least have this achievement to refer back to in later life.

One thing I was really impressed with was at the presentation of the premiership at TSS and Nongoor (spelling) chose to have his injured player lifted with the cup instead of him. Very very classy (or was it because he was too heavy...). I think his speech was very humble and well done to him. In those last few minutes of the game he rose to the occasion also to deny Ipswich the ball a few times when it counted. It must feel good after the Ross Oval game last year and he’ll have some great memories from his time at TSS rugby.

Congrats TSS well deserved, most consistent team all year - well done IGS for denying TSS their perfect season which they will remember more than the tries scored all year.

This week I’m backing BSHS to upset BBC like they did last year

^Interesting how bogey teams have seemed to develop for TSS and BBC in the last few years.

IGS were the only blemish on TSS’s 2017 season and denied them a stand alone premiership, nearly derailed them last year when nobody gave them a chance and yesterday’s draw was quite unbelievable with TSS down by 12 fairly deep in the second half. At least the “undefeated premiers “ T-shirts can still be worn out in public.

BSHS have worried BBC , not with the same consequences, but troubled them nonetheless.

Couple of grand finals this weekend
-14 A- NC v ACGS
-15A BBC v BSHs-
-2nds NC v ACGS

in 15As look out for BBC 10 and 8 and BSHS 12 and 13 to be in 1st xv next year.
As someone else said BSHS 13 is being called the next Pasitoa-but i think you will find he is already Qld under 15 NRL.

If BBC do not put 50 on BSHS then I will walk down Ashmore rd with a big sign that says:
"scoring 4 tries to 2 against the premiers is NOT a moral victory""

Where do you see the 10 playing assuming MGordon is the 10, quite a few mid field options as well. You may actually have a more talented team next year than this year - dreams not over yet!

nah-forwards will be nothing like this year.

re 15 A -BBC v BSHS play for premiership for 3rd year in a row. BBC won by 5 in 2017. BSHS won by 3 last year.
But the BSHS 13 looks unstoppable to me. QRU -where are you ??

HMP will likely fall into 9 I reckon - but best playmaker in next year’s bunch is Peron Faimolo . Ripley has a better running game but Faimolo is the better play maker . Help in the outside backs is on the way and I’m hearing 2nd Row depth will be be added

Next year’s match up in the midfield v TSS will be a ripper - Schmidt/Ngamanu/Fifita v ( assumed ) Gordon/Faimolo/Howarth (if he’s here)

Again in the 15's - this year's BSHS 15A team is a lot better than previous years and they have an intensity that this BBC team won't be able to match. State's 7 is an animal and will destroy the BBC 10 early and it will be one way traffic from there. With a flag up for grabs I predict a BSHS by 20. NC should bounce back after last weekend's disappointment to easily dispose of Churchie, GT will beat the winless Ipswich and TGS will put an end to a disappointing BGS season.

Well done to TSS even though they did their best to lose the game. i was watching from the Winchester Street end and they butchered at least 2 tries in the last 15 minutes right in front of us. All they had to do was pass it with a big overlap. Then the normally reliable kicker missed a gimmee Penalty close to the end. To be fair IGS missed a very kickable penalty down the other end close to the finish.

Just out of interest GO, and others might also know the answer, does your reference to "I’m hearing 2nd Row depth will be be added" suggest that BBC's sporting scholarship program has not been ended by the new(ish) Headmaster after all?

My impression from reading posts by some BBC affiliates on this forum towards the start of the year was that the Headmaster who arrived last year had decided that the school should be concentrating more on the academic side of things?

I'm not sure why a school can't support or subsidise both the academic and sporting programs without compromising one or the other, provided that everything is kept in perspective - BGS certainly used to manage to do that back in the 70's/80's.

Wrong thread I know. But aren’t schools with a lot of sports scholarships actually being subsidized by old boy boosters so that the school covers it’s expenses anyway?

I'm not sure that "expense" has much to do with it, in the sense that if a school has places available, i.e. the house is not full, then they're not foregoing fee income they would otherwise have earned by giving one of those places to a sportsman.

Obviously there's a bit of a difference with boarding scholarships, but even so if there's a spare bed in the boarding house it's not going to cost a school much extra to feed the new boy, wash his clothes etc.

If there's a school at moment with a full boarding house I'd be surprised, particularly with most farmers doing it pretty tough.

I don't know if there is any Old Boy funding of sports scholarships going on at any of the GPS schools at the moment, but if it is I'd say it's far more likely to be happening where the school in question has to give up a spot which a fee-paying student would have taken up, which would narrow it down considerably.
