Rebels 2020

The real question is where are they hosting it? Not AAMI park, are they taking it to the country?

I think they would be hoping the new A league stadium in the west to be complete, otherwise it's going to be a crap ground somewhere. Day game means they don't have to worry about lights being up to standard.

Not sure on the contract situation for Meakes/Hodge, but they're my favourite center pairing that we have had and I'm not particularly fussed who's at 12 and who's at 13 assuming To'omua is our Stand Off. Magnay was a 13 in the age grades so I could see him in there. And if the powers that be see Tui as a center as this NRC seems to indicate, then he could easily get that opportunity as well.

Koroibete and what he’s doing next season is a great mystery. He hasn’t signed for any European team and there is zero speculation around his movements, I wouldn’t put it past him to be at the Rebels again, especially if he has a great WC the ARU will throw money at him.

I think the backline next season will look like the following

9. Lomani
10. To'omua
11. Tupou/Koroibete
12. Meakes
13. Hodge
14. Maddocks
15. DHP

That’s a solid line up.

They’ll be hoping one of these local dewar shield guys will turn into another Naivalu. On current form only Uakele comes close.

Iona is in a with a shot of getting one of the last spots in the squad. He’s a local lad, so could be a good fit for someone happy to be a squad member

Awesome to hear, the front page of this thread have him off to France.

Its in the article. Consider it similar to sister clubs, sharing coaches and programs plus id say a little bit of coin. Pretty sure the coaches at Kintestsu are Stiles and Hedger so it makes sense they'd link with them.
Think there is more to it than what’s just in the article. Unfortunately not good for the Rising but I think you will see fringe Wallabies play in Japan to top up their wages

It's about knowledge sharing, yes. But I think it's more aobut reducing wage bills.

It also makes a little harder to cull the Rebels, should those shenadigans ever come around again.

I hope they both have more success than the 2018 Sponsors, Legacy Property and Investment Group, who the Rebels instigated liquidation procedures against in February this year with a $1.3 m amount not paid for a season of free advertising on front of jersey.

What's interesting is the apparent plans to revamp the elite ranks in Japan post RWC (2021) into a proper professional league that would run from Sept through January. Coupled with Super Rugby supposedly reverting back to the single round robin format with 14 teams from 2021 as well. This could see Super Rugby moved further back. With a great number of the non-Wallaby squad players shipping off to Japan to play in that league before returning to play Super Rugby.

Would not be surprised to see more of these relationships established in the future with similar 'exchanges' in mind. Quite possible to see the introduction of duel contracting as well.
