RWC Pool D - Wallabies vs Wales - Sunday 29 September 2019 @ 5.45pm

I think the Foley suggestion is justified, particularly if CLL is busted after the Fiji game. While I was advocating for CLL to be picked earlier, there's really not a lot between them, and Foley may improve our goal-kicking. Besides which, CLL's last two games (2nd Bled & Fiji) haven' t been that good. I mean, we don't have a real world class 10 to select!
DHP was always going to get a start, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) over Beale an interesting one, although it gives you two FB options under the high ball, and Beale certainly seems at his best when coming on as a sub. Don't know if I would have gone with the two sevens again, think I would have selected LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto).
People are blowing up about not enough genuine wing replacements, but no doubt they thought Petaia would recover more quickly, and under most circumstances wing is a position you least need covered, and extra wingers simply end up as tourists.

I somewhat appreciate this team, and am glad the coaching panel have done what they said and picked "horses for courses", the bench is a huge plus. Giving LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) and Coleman 20 to go ham, sting in defense and run the ball hard is good.

And KB (Kurtley Beale)'s bench move is valid, give him 20 against tiring forwards from a big physical, defensive focused contest and i reckon we are in to see him do quite well.

If the plan was to blood some kid who barely has any top level rugby experience to speak of as yet....... against Wales......... in a World Cup......... then, wow.

Yeah, I'm not down on this side at all. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is covering for Hodge without any further disruption, that's his role as a journeyman.

It wasn't. The plan would have been to blood him against Georgia and Uruguay, and still probably is, otherwise he wouldn't still be there. If we had Naivalu or Speight there they would be there as cover for Koroibete, not Hodge.

Wales up by 10-15 by half-time; PG's 2-3 more than aus
second half tit for tat
Wales by 10-15
Foley, AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) frig ...
I'm taking both match odds Wales $1.82 and half-full time Wales, no odds available yet ...
I've suggested to my daughter/son-in-law to lay Australia on WC outright winner @ $22.00, that's 4.76% interest !

Petaia is a project selection, amazing talent, gets game time in the following two matches

At best a desperation bench option, not a starter against the big boys

But likely to be a key player for the next 5 years for the Wobs going forward

That may have all changed if he wasn't wounded for most of this season

This is just not based on fact.

He is recovering from injury, and been injured in the past when selected.

I think he could very easily start in the pointy end games depending how he goes in the next few weeks.

The reality is we don't have ANY sample size to say whether he is "not a starter against the big boy" or a world beater or somewhere in-between.

He is in the squad based on merit, as no player outside the squad is better and very few outside backs in the squad are better right now either.

We just need to see the boy play.

Hahaha, Foley at 10. Someone do a welfare check on one B Sands.

Hes trash, but I will support him dutifully. Hope he plays the best game of his career.

Keep it civil and polite when talking about players (and other posters) FP in moderator mode

He seems to be a very talented player, but I'd like to see him dominate actually play some serious minutes in Super Rugby first....

And I would say fatprop's analysis is definitely more based in fact.

He's potentially CFS MK II.

Lucky for him that you are just a forum poster, and the blokes in charge think he's ready to play a world cup then isn't it?

I do welcome the selection of Genia and Foley though.........

Neither white or Lilo have been great in the last few matches........ hardly anything between Foley and Lilo in goal kicking, but I think Foley might actually manage the backline better, but I'd be wary of his clearances.

Are you being argumentative just for the sake of it?

Has AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) worked on his kicking game whilst at the Tahs this year? Makes me extremely nervous that we've only got one designated kicker in the back three and realistically speaking 2.5 kickers in that entire backline (DHP, JOC (James O'Connor) and 0.5 in Foley).
