Before I upset anyone about Isi criticism, it’s not his fault he hasn’t been used as a lineout option for the past 12 months, completely unrealistic expectations to think he could then step up and fill that role at test level in a RWC without match day experience

Is wales’ lineout that good? The 8 is 6’1 and both flankers are 6’2. I know it’s not all about height, but Naisarani is 6’5. He’s been used effectively in the lineout before this season, presumably they have been working on the issues evident from last week, which weren’t all him BTW.

I suppose there are two main decisions that have been made, and I see the logic behind both.

Once you determine Beale can't catch a high ball (and there is enough evidence to suggest that this is the case), then benching him against Wales is a prudent strategy. So DHP comes in, and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is quite literally the only winger we have left.

It's not an ideal scenario, but I think the strategy behind it is quite sound.

And once you determine Lilo is banged up (which is hard to tell from outside the camp), then putting Foley in his place is the only logical step.

I'm not entirely sold on Genia over White, given how good Nic was in Perth and the fact he's been decent enough since. But Genia is class so I can't argue too hard on that one.

The one thing I do like is our bench, with Beale arguably playing in his best position. If it's tight with 20 to play, we're in good position to make things happen in the late stages.

Why wouldn't Wales put up high balls in the last 20 minutes?

If you don't have the skills required then you should not be at this level, this is a lot of what is wrong with Australian Rugby, we don't have complete players anymore, we overlook negatives because someone has a few positives.

Different proposition putting up box kicks if you’re chasing the game or just trying to hold on.

We just need to stay with them till early in the second stanza and we should come home stronger. We still have MKs raw pace. Going the pooper again is a bit of a worry but we will see. Last game LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) replaced Naisarani so it did not improve our lineout much.

Genia and Foley have an excellent record against Wales. What’s up with TT, is he injured or maybe in the naughty chair?

Fiji’s lineout isn’t all that good either, and naisarani hasn’t being used effectively all season in the lineout

Yep that’s what I reckon, if we are ahead or slightly behind with 20 to go we should have them, Wales have the mental fortitude of a piece of wet paper

And Kerevi is still a good shout as the best attacking centre in the world.

Didn't they win the 6 nations. I'd say they are a very different team to when we last met them. In comparison our 'mental fortitude' has never been a strong suit especially when behind with 20 to go against the top sides.

not such a big match anymore, both teams will coast through now that dumbarse Fiji have howitzered out of the tournament and the other teams in the group are Uruguay, Rhodesia, the Sultan of Brunei's gruds and a lost Peruvian Alpaca

Except that he’s been used regular by the Wallabies, and most teams he’s played with throughout his professional career.........

Because chasers will be tired and apply less pressure giving Beale a better chance at success? I'd hope we are holding the ball enough that high balls are few and far between in the last 20.

I have no issue with your interpretation of the logic, Barbs. But if I was selecting the side, I wouldn't have had AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) there, nor would I have replaced White for this game.

The talk here is that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is a strong defender and will put in a good defensive shift on the wing. I reckon I've seen AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) miss more tackles in his past two games than he has missed in any one year in his career. It is widely conceded that he has lost a fair bit of pace with age, and I think that is also affecting his positioning and ability to make tackles. On the other hand, in Kuridrani, we have a recognised class defender, especially at 13, and he has experience at playing wing. He was initially recruited to Canberra as a winger and converted to 13 after coming here. A better solution to replace Hodge imo would have been to play TK on the wing but have him defend at 13.

Nic White has excelled all year in NH rugby, the type of game that is played by Wales. I would have persisted with him for this game with Willy G on in the last 30 minutes. That would have offered another option for taking penalty kicks as well. The kickers in the squad, apart from Foley, are White (on the bench), Lealiifano (apparently injured), To'omua (on the bench) and Hodge (suspended). We will be going something like 60 minutes against Wales with no alternative to Foley who is just as likely to leave his kicking boots behind.

Well the teams been selected now, and it's time to back them in. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has played over 100 tests you dont play that much with out being smart and hard working, I think he will do fine, and probably score one in the corner like he seems to do a fair bit.

Foley to put in a shift like he did against England in 2015 and Wallabies to coast home. Screw the Welsh and there shitty Dragon.

This.

Isi Naisarani is a poor lineout option, meaning wallabies are going in with only 2 primary jumpers. absolutely ridiculous, it’s offensive Cheika thinks that it’s a suitable option. Didn’t work last week against a team without a lineout, won’t work this week against a team with a lineout.

I expect that this will be one of the main talking points at the end of the game. If Wales dominate possession through winning our lineout ball, the result could well be a disappointment for all Wallaby fans (though no doubt still be defended by the selection panel).

I think if we start losing too much Lineout ball we will see the changes with LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) on early, possible for Poey/Hooper.

Does mean if Foley is having a shocking first 30mins he'll get pulled for To'omua?
