Yep, we aren't very good and haven't been for a while

We will get to see if it is the coach or the cattle next season (I personally think it is a bit of both)

I think it's a bit of both too.

Unfortunately, you just can't polish a turd

I think that's a bit of a cop out.

In previous seasons, there's certainly an argument we didn't have the cattle.

But this year? i can't buy that excuse. Literally no injuries, depth in the pack, skill at set piece, it was all there. Maybe not 'win the World Cup' level of cattle, but certainly far better than what we achieved.

Not quite. We had all the tools but proper halves and only 1 real winger.

I think the cattle was there, the coach just couldn’t get the best out of them.
Blokes like Lealifano and Kuridrani who played really well during Super Rugby, turned into shadows of themselves come test rugby. Sure Foley didn’t have a great Super Rugby season, but he absolutely capitulated during the RWC, it was actually sad to watch.

I think out of the squad, Latu was probably the only player who improved from Super Rugby, everyone else seemed to regress in confidence and skill.

Halves was partly self-inflicted - playing six different combos in six straight tests. And really the winger issue didn't make a jot of difference to our fate overall.

Eh it's all a factor. None of the halves could pull out a half decent performance. Chopping and changing didn't help but besides White I don't think any of them were up to it.

And how many centre combinations did they play...

Tight 5 was about the only thing which had consistency

Mate totally agree. The players need to wear some of the blame. None of them stood up to be selected. How long do you persevere when they are playing poorly? Exact same thing happened a couple of season ago with the locks. They were all given a chance and none of them stood up so he kept searching.

There's a pretty strong argument that you need to have made that decision by the time you get to the RWC though.

If White and Lilo were the preferred combination in the opening match (where we were playing very close to our best side) they should have started all the big games for the tournament.

It's too late to be making form oriented decisions then particularly when the replacements aren't providing an absolutely compelling reason to make a change (which neither Genia nor Foley were). We just had to stick with them and hope it improved.

Agree however there was talk that Lealiifano was struggling to recover. Nard got a chance and had a mare. To'omua played well off the bench (but more like a 12) and probably got the start that Lealiifano or Nard would have had if they weren't injured (ill/not recovered/resting) or out of touch.

A sense of relief when the wallabies lost the quarter final as we all knew it was the end of Cheika. Now a few days later I am angry that Australian Rugby let it get to this. The Cheika Era has been an absolute debacle. I don’t think the press or public should just let him slide off either with the excuse that he was passionate. His attitude, unprofessional behaviour, non existent tactics, stubbornness and arrogance can’t be excused. All the board and key executives ( former and current) should hang their heads in Shame.
