Interested to see if team Asia is the China - nz tie up. As commercially for my mind needs a Japanese team (sunwolves 2021?), a nz team and another oz team (ideally western Sydney - not sure whatever happened to western Sydney bid as I thought it was only meant to be not ready this year).

Wasn't the axing of the Sunwolves up for review along with a fast tracking of Japan into the RC??

Krasny Yar began the restructuring of the composition. Two experienced players are gone. Two coaches also left the club. They also returned the backs coach of the Tongan Siua Tuamalolo. But they need a cool head coach from the Southern Hemisphere. So that he prepares teams for the style of playing Rapid Rugby. Are there good coaches in Australia without a job now?

I suppose once Dave Rennie brings in his own people that Shaun Berne would be out of a job ... I think he was a Wallabies assistant, right?

Never been a head coach but did wonders with the Force attack while he was here.

He was short term cover for the Wallabies and is now back with the Rebels.

Manumā the “missing link” to get locals to Manu Samoa
Thomas Airey - Samoa Observer - 21 Nov 2019

Manumā Samoa is hoped to be the “missing link” for local rugby players to make the step-up to international level.

Run by the Samoa Rugby Union (S.R.U.), the team will compete in the inaugural home-and-away season of Global Rapid Rugby in 2020 along with five other franchises across Oceania and Asia.

The Manumā will play their home games at Apia Park, and feature a squad of Samoa’s best on-island talent.

“Hopefully this is another step up for our players to compete,” Samoa Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i said.
“It’s a great opportunity for our local players who are playing in the Super 9.
“This is a great step forward in closing that gap [between domestic rugby and the Manu Samoa].”

Recent observations. In Krasnoyarsk, the opinion of the rugby community is changing in favor of Rapid Rugby. They see Moscow lobbyists doing the wrong thing. Mindlessly littered with huge money. Maked the wrong decisions.
Now the idea has arisen to hold the February training camp of the Krasny Yar in Oceania. And not in France or Britain as previously planned. The costs are about the same. Perhaps in Tonga, since their coach Siua Tuamalolo is a Tongan. And play two tests against Manuma Samoa and Fijian Latui according to the rules of GRR. There they will be able to negotiate and show a desire to play Rapid Rugby.
I must say that in 2010-12, Krasny Yar spent winter camps in New Zealand. They had an agreement with the Canterbury Union. They played a lot of test matches there.
Another club of the Enisei-STM is now playing in the European Challenge Cup, so it will not be able to come in February. They will have a vacation at this time.

Amazing 9-point POWER TRY in Rapid Rugby style from Enisei-STM against Castres Olympique in European Challenge Cup. Alexandr Budychenko (#10) and Bjorn Basson (#11).

You can recall another cool try with the participation of Enisei-STM players in the Russian national team against Japan a year ago. It is not a POWER TRY, but very beautiful. Players from Enisei-STM Ramil Gaisin (#10) and Stanislav Selsky (#2).

Wondering what player payments will be like for players playing for Fiji and Samoa in GRR. Will they match say what players playing for Western Force will earn?

Overall I'd suggest not, based on the comparative economies and cost of living of those countries. They will have some marquee players on a bigger wedge, though.

It's a similar thing to a lesser degree with South Africa. While saffers do like rugby a lot more than aussies, most of their pro players earn less on average.

A post from one excited Newcastle Hunter Rugby Union fan (Sammy Kolo).

Pre-GRR season trial game against Newcastle at end February 2020.

Good to see regional Australia getting a look-in.

Krasnoyarsk is establishing relations with New Zealand. This is a step towards Rapid Rugby.

The Siberian Rugby Academy (SRA) from Krasnoyarsk signed a cooperation agreement with the Auckland Rugby Academy.
“Now our coaches have the opportunity to undergo training in New Zealand, to accept foreign top-level coaches in Krasnoyarsk to train local coaches and players. In addition, we can provide an opportunity for any interested young players from Krasnoyarsk to undergo an internship at the Auckland Blues Academy, ”commented the signing of the agreement, Director of the SRA Sergey Bazhenov.
