Waratahs 2020

Jagman

Why are we allowed to bring in a unit already locked to another country? We got rid of the force and there was some sort of agreement that this shit would stop

And then why do we need another winger? (Unless Maddocks is running off to the 7s)

Because Australian teams have only marginally improved against international sides since the force were cut. They are still no where near pre 2016 levels with regard to win ratios vs NZ sides. We don't have the cattle for have 4 teams when competing against NZs 5. We might be able to manage 2.5 that's where we're at. NSW has never beaten the Jaguares for example.

You obviously haven't been following the under 20 and 18 results. Performances are on the rise and the Tahs and Reds are bursting with talent. The Jags are virtually a national team. If we hadn't beaten thecSunwolves then I'd be worried

We're arguing Hooper's place in the Wallabies... seriously?

The one eyed spite has begun early this year.

I would genuinely love to start a game with a traditional backrow. I see the merits of Hooper, but would much prefer a more traditional 7.

Whether that be Samu, or Wright now (maybe too soon) and probably a McReight moving forward. But certainly David when available.

I won’t even talk about Gill.

Like leather footballs, "traditional 7s" are a thing of the past.

Sorry I meant Australian SUPER RUGBY teams. I follow the u18s and u20s but the 2012 School boys also beat NZ and where are those players now?
Here's the side: (hard to make a super rugby team out of them)

1 Aaron Pleash 2 Tom Wilson 3 Matt Sandell 4 Tom Staniforth 5 Matthew Philip 6 Jack Dempsey 7 Michael Gunn 8 Mitchell Whiteley (c) 9 Angus Pulver 10 Jake McIntyre 11 Andrew Kellaway 12 Jack Tuttle 13 Jim Stewart 14 Andrew Robinson 15 Jonah Placid 16 Thomas Robertson 17 Francois Postal 18 Neori Nadruku 19 Adam Korczyk 20 Lolo Fakaosilea 21 Andrew Ferris 22 Reece Hodge 23 Tepai Moeroa

It's nice to have some success last year but its just a swallow not a summer at this stage.

Samu isnt a traditional 7? If anything he plays very similar to Hooper.

Gill wasnt even that great, srs.

If McReight fulfills his promise I would be more than happy to see him displace Hooper in the 23 - be surprised if that happens this year though.

Hooper is very much a traditional openside IMO..........

He even led the competition for pilfers one year.

Is he?

Could have fooled me.

I can see the things he’s good at, I’m not trying to bait anyone.

Happy to let this die.

Cronyism still alive amongst the Sydney rugby mafia. Australian Rugby at large, sadly. The Ballymore carpark is a fine example too.

Isn't Dave supposed to drag us out of this shit malaise that we've been in for the last 5 years?
That said, I think NSWRU (and probably its Sydney chapters mostly) would be the most dysfunctional Union represented at the RA table.

If your contention is correct Jagman, then I would estimate the Saffas have only sufficient players to put together one Super side. We are not so badly off as most on here would have us believe.
