Western Force 2020

Facts are facts. GRR is a feeder comp to Super Rugby. Perhaps that will change, but I doubt it.The issues Super Rugby faces are also faced by GRR. If Super Rugby fails, even if east coast teams join GRR, the reason Super Rugby failed will ensure GRR goes down the toilet too.

Hmm..what's so bloody annoying about Johnson's comments I hear you ask? Where do I start? Taken in conjunction with Rennie's decision to fly right over Perth on his recent visit and ignore the Force (despite there being a direct connection to Perth), it simply reinforces the message that Rugby Australia are continuing Pulver and Clyne's attitude towards the West, that at best we are there to pillage at will, and to ignore otherwise.

Castle is saying the right words but RA's actions don't back them up.

Didn't they just announce test matches against NZ and SA in Perth?

And I'm not sure why Rennie was supposed to stopover in Perth for?

Or what's such a big deal with Johnson saying that Super Rugby teams could target Force players?

Yes, but again, this was to RA's benefit - the WA government had to pay for the right. Victoria did too, but they got a Get out of Jail card for the Rebels thrown in too.

Sorry Slim - I can't tell whether your being flippant or not.

It’s like getting angry at Rennie for not checking in with an NRC team, why aren’t you just as upset that he didn’t check in with the Melbourne rising or NSW Country setups

Actually I believe they did-they’ve met with 4 franchises. Apparently a one way street as far as finding players is ok. Especially when you don’t have to contribute anything to that pesky development bit. Shoe will be on the other foot soon.

He hasn’t met with any of the NRC setup jeez

I’m still not sure what the whole problem is? What would you expect Rennie to do? Show up and go, look lads, none of you have any chance of making the wallabies this year and if you have aspirations to I’d suggest you move to super rugby to get some quality competition rather than playing no name sides every week in GRR, would that be preferred?

I don't really see any legitimate cause for grievances here..........

Rennie has met up with all four of the Super Rugby teams as they're the direct feeder into the Wallabies.

It's possible he'll meet the Force at some stage, but it didn't seem relevant going into the first round of Super Rugby.

Johnson suggesting Super Rugby teams can target Force/GRR players should be taken as a positive for those players aspiring to reach higher levels of the game.

Full on hyperbole there Show. Force easily won the NRC last year and any of those beaten sides would trounce Sydney Uni.

I actually really doubt it

But it’s a moot point, was just getting at don’t throw shade when your team and it’s comp are subpar

OK, How can I say this in a way you'd understand?

Believe it or not, there are five professional rugby union teams in Australia, one just doesn't happen to be involved in Super Rugby.

Sure, the standard of play isn't as high, but it attracts and produces a decent number of good quality players that are of interest to the other professional teams. The state union, despite all the adversity since 2017, is also doing a pretty decent job on that front too. Actually I reckon they
are doing a bloody good job.

It happens to be supported by a bloke who has shown he is more than willing to invest big dollops of money in causes he believes in - more than enough money to solve Rugby Australia's money problems from here to eternity, and to ensure that grassroots across the country would never have to go begging again - he could be Australian Rugby's Andrew Carnegie. Having said that, this money could also be used to buy a lot of talent still remaining in the Australian Super teams - he's going to need a few more players to support his comp but lucky for you guys, that's not his style.

I'd think that being on good terms with such a bloke would be a good idea if I was RA, and if that meant sending one or two blokes over to run the ruler over things, say some nice things and act in an inclusive and conciliatory manner then I'd be falling over over myself to make it happen.
