Big scoring game I suspect. Reds are hitting their strides and I think that fans are entitled to anticipate a win. About bloody time and I know I know KNOCK ON WOOD.

I’d like to see Lucas back starting 10 but plan for a relatively early revert to JOC (James O'Connor) - Stewart. Don’t mind Resting one or two of the younger major names.

Reds by 15.

Start of bigger things.

Who is at the game? Me, first time in ages as I’m back in town. It would be great to get a half way reasonable crowd.

JOC (James O'Connor) was awesome in the flyhalf role last week. Building a good repiore with McDermott. Leave the backline as it is. Good things are about to happen.

Would like to see Lucas get some time at fullback, whether it's 20+ minutes at the end or as a starter. Expecting Nasser to get some time this week off the bench at tight head, otherwise it might be worth Starting Zander at loose head and having JP come off the benc at reserve tight head. Tupou has put in a lot of minutes the last three weeks and we really don't want to be wearing out another prop at this stage.

It'll be interesting to see how Speight/Campbell/CFS go here too, an off game this week from any of them could see them drop out for Daugunu when he's available next week.

Yep I'll be there along with a couple of mates.

7:15 start means I'll probably leave the kids at home though

It's a 6:15pm kick off local time.

Only 7:15pm in places with Daylight Savings.

If anyone here is still chasing tickets for the season, Reds have comp running until tomorrow on Instagram to what looks to be new XXXX sponsored section. Check out comp post here if you'll enjoy rugby and being loud at the rugby in a classy Reds Hawaiian shirt. https://www.instagram.com/p/B8cpWEOAhgA/?igshid=1i5zbqoagshud

I think because O'Connor is playing so well we have no choice but to start him likely at 10, but maybe Lucas at 15 then pull the plug on O'Connor after the first half assuming we have the lead we ought to.

Yeah, good question. I think he kinda has to start at 10 just because of how the backline has fallen around him. Hamish looked impressive at 12, and Hunter looked amazing* at 13 (* amazing when you consider the whole context). MAYBE we start Lucas at 15 with Campbell back to the wing, but even that's unlikely because CFS even noting the 'tough' tackle looked good at 14. Speight could be due a rest for Campbell (probably CFS playing 11 and Campbell his more natural 14). But I think based on performance especially against the Jags, the backline more or less picks itself.

I think our bench is another story, my understanding is we've got Daugunu, and Malolua (noting Sorovi has been pretty ordinary) coming back, along with Hegarty who has been playing very consistently (as always), plus this would be a brilliant game to have a look at Gordon.

You could ALMOST start Filipo, and keep CFS for the bench flexibility, and while Campbell has been playing well I've never really been sold on him so I'd tend to keep him on the wing and trial Lucas. Given that, I'd say we could take a risk on Gorden on the bench (assuming he's in match shape). Worst case we'd have O'Connor, Stewart and Lucas all capable of playing multiple positions.

It's almost like the Lock issue we have we're trying to fit 5 very good backs along with another 5 quality backs into the one backline, but we kind of lack that REAL fire power of a 'World XV' type player or combo like a 2011 Genia & Quade, although I'm sure (read: hopeful) that'll come.

I think our backline will probably be something like

9 McDermott, 10 O'Connor, 11 Speight, 12 Stewart, 13 Pisami, 14 Feauai-Sautia, 15 Campbell. Maloua, Lucas, Hegarty.

But an 'extra spicy' backline could be

9 McDermott, 10 O'Connor, 11 Daugunu, 12 Stewart, 13 Pisami, 14 Campbell, 15 Lucas. Malolua, Gordon & CFS.

Agree with this but noting that the players don't just "come" but need to be built. Lucas needs to continue being given time and development. If not him, then roll in plan B, whatever it is it needs to continue. JOC (James O'Connor) is proving absolutely fantastic but he is not really a long term solution.

Stewart was given plenty of time at 10 but his strength is elsewhere.

I like the way this team is building, I like it strengths right now, but the real kicker is where it can be going forward.

Have got our own " home town ref" with Nick Berry down to control this game.

Might be on a hiding to nothing after the stink of Argentina.

It does make you wonder......

Getting the lead hasn't been our problem...

Hope Harry Wilson takes the chance to pick his brain afterwards. Schatz has always had great control at the back of the scrum and it's probably the biggest problem with Harry's game at the moment.

Gee, I’m not sure I would have suggested that. For me his “biggest problem” would be balancing a desire to play everything at 110% with occasional need to be a little conservative. Thought he was doing OK at the back of the scrum.

It's an issue but I think that's just a bit of youthful exuberance and he already looks to be settling a bit. I should have said biggest technical problem though, and the last two weeks he has lost control of the ball at the back as the reds scrum got a head of steam up. Can't be wasting that platform
