Indeed - it has been 46 years since a school outside the GPS challenged their supremacy (and won State) - was good then and is good now. Should be good for senior rowing as the Auggie boys are out of the Mosman shed and hopefully more than a few stay there. The Ungemachs are creating a strong legacy.

I couldn't agree more. Which school was it 46 years ago?

Cranbrook in 73, coached by John Clark, the stroke of the 72 Olympic eight - it was the last year before swimming became a summer sport and stuffed up their gene pool (and then basketball totally effed it in the early 80s). Junior Eight and 1st IV both won at Gold Cup in 73, with the 1st 8 3rd behind Sydney Rowing Club and Universities (were leading before Sydney claimed gear failure and had to restart)

Joeys regatta at SIRC in ten days - will be keen to see any crew changes and which schools have been working hard over the holidays.

Seemed like a poor showing from the NSW schools on Saturday at the NSW championships. Newington was best placed at 6th in the Schoolboy Viii and Shore 2nds were the best placed NSW school crew in the u21 Viii's coming 7th. Victorian schools really dominated.

Any thoughts/insights?

Unless Shore's 1 8 is any good the Vic schools will get all the podiums. Be interesting to see how good they will be though doubt they will beat Scotch who again look the school to beat.
Just looked at the results in the Junior crews and Shore looking v strong. Dont think the Yr 8s or 9s lost a race.....

Im not sure how good the 1st vii is this year as they have had little racing and recently injuries. However, they did comfortably beat the 2nd placed VIC boat from the weekend at a regatta in NZ back before Christmas so I was looking forward to the Scotch match up.

This Forum is getting v thin. No one seems to care anymore :-(

Favourites for the HOTR at this stage ?

MR

1. Shore
2. TKS
3. View
4. The rest

It has been a disrupted start to 2020 for Shore so I know they have some improvement in them. That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if TKS did win however as the core of this TKS crew beat Shore in the Yr10 VIII HOR two years ago so they are capable. Should be a great race.

Definitely exciting. Kings have been building for a few years with very strong junior 8’s.

Wouldn’t surprise me if View win on their home turf this weekend.

A gentle reminder.

In addition to our forum rules, the following additional rules apply specifically to our schoolboy forums. They are simple to follow and we've found them to provide a good balance between allowing discussion of schoolboy rowing in a dignified manner, and our receiving legal threats from parents and schools.

For reference, the rules are:

Schoolboy rowing is the lifeblood of the sport. But we can't let the shenanigans that's coming with it drag the site down.
If sanctions seem inconsistent and disproportionate vs what's allowed in other parts of the site, we make no apologies.

If you wish to post in our schoolboy rowing boards, you must agree to our terms listed below:

1. Use the 'Report Post' button
If you report a post that breaks the rules, we'll warn / ban the poster.
If you start a flame war, we'll warn / ban you.
This is the report post button:

.

2. Speak respectfully to each other
Change: "What planet are you on? Player X was shithouse . "
To: "I didn't see it that way, I thought .

3. Speak respectfully about the rowers
Change: "Lazy fat bugger with no brains"
To: "Needs to work on his stroke"

4. Discussion of off-water behaviour is forbidden
If something happens off the water, there is no place for it in our schoolboys forums.

5. These topics are banned outside of their dedicated threads:
i. Scholarships
ii. NTS
