Brumbies v The Bye, Rnd 5 2020

Ok Sully, if I may use this place to say how interested I was watching Breakdown from NZ TV , Sam Cane was a guest, and how well they were saying the Brumbies went last week. Cane said they basically just outsmarted them, didn't do anything they were expecting. Glen Jackson also does a thing on there and he broke down how well he thought the Brumbies changed things, and it seemed to be pretty unanimous that it was great to see how well McKellar did with game plan etc. Was a a good watch/listen.

No, but if you were to go on youtube on a Wednesday morning it has usually been posted. I love the programme, obviously a bit NZ biased for a few, but I think a great rugby discussion, and probably not afraid to be crtics of NZ rugby etc.

Well we are certainly short of that over here

Yeah it's a great show. Will be on my permanent list. Would love something like it in Australia.

I found it really interesting on how well they thought the Ponies played etc! One of reasons I enjoy the show, don't always agree with them, but they do tend to be quite happy to applaud great play/planning etc by teams from everywhere. And I was real pleased how they thought McKellar had planned well for the game, which is why I mentioned it in this thread

I think it was Dom Shipperley who similarly spoke about how impressive it was to see a team with an obvious game plan that didn't just extend to one game but holistically across games. To present a picture consistently in a couple of games such that you can then leverage a particular deceptions in a later game just shows some real vision and attention to detail I haven't seen by Australian teams in a long time - well not to such an extent. To execute it against a Gatland coached team is just a cherry on top - particularly after his Wales team made us look tactically inept in the RWC.

It just shows a well couch team with real trust in their coaches and the discipline to stick to the plan.

As an aside, the Breakdown, 1014 etc. and other intelligent commentary/analysis would be great to have in Australia.
