I can't see the article, but word is a 2:45pm kick off for the Brumbies v Sunwolves. I would have thought 4:35pm was reasonable as it allows the stipulated on field warmup time for the following game.

I wouldn't put it past them changing this to a Saturday so that it creates a triple header for content.

That way it goes Brumbies v Sunwolves at 2:45pm -> Hurricanes v Blues -> Rebels v Lions.

Should find out today the confirmed details.

From SANZAAR: The Round 6 Sunwolves versus Brumbies match will now be played on Friday 6 March prior to the Waratahs versus Chiefs match at WIN Stadium in Wollongong, kick-off 14:45 local time (AEDT).

This could be in contention for the lowest crowd in the competition's history. Not likely to be many people in Wollongong at 2.45pm on a Friday to watch two away teams.

You dont think there's many Brumby fans in the gong ? Hopefully they get some buses from Canberra down and a bunch of people take an early weekend.

It's hard to imagine there are more Brumbies fans in Wollongong than in Canberra and a 2.45pm kick off isn't going to draw in the punters.

The Sunwolves are supposed to play the 'saders in Japan a week later, so it would seem likely that will have to be relocated as well.........

Friday before the long weekend- I’m thinking of making a detour via Wollongong to go to the south coast.

I suppose so, but wouldnt you think some rugby fans might be going for both games ?

Sure, but the same thing applies. 2.45pm on a Friday isn't easy to make and if you're main intention was to go to the 7.15pm game that means you now have a huge time commitment with a couple of hour break in the middle (where you could watch the NZ game on TV) during that break but I think we're talking about a very limited number of people that will appeal to.

What makes you think the crowd will be anything other than diabolical?

If the game was moved to Canberra to be played at 2.45pm on a Friday what would your crowd expectations be?

That scenario will ring alarm bells for Brumbies fans, who remember that Larkham was also anointed "next Wallabies coach" when he joined Michael Cheika's set up as attack coach in 2015. Larkham balanced his Brumbies and Wallabies roles for three seasons before joining Australia full time for the 2017 Test season. After ongoing poor Test results, Cheika sacked Larkham at the end of 2018.

This paragraph hits the nail on the head.

Also, being a head coach requires experience as......... a head coach, of all things. Signing up to be an assistant for four years will really hurt your chances, particularly if another talented head coach comes through the provincial ranks in that time period.

Barbar has just said pretty much the same thing on twitter. It's hard to disagree with you all. The best training to be wallbies head coach is to be a head coach, not four years of being an assistant.

I do think there's some value bringing him into the setup to get a feel for how international coaching goes, but not at the expense of having him as head coach of the brumbies.

I seem to remember there being a plan to bring back Australia A - signing McKellar up as head coach there alongside his super duties would probably be better for his development
