If you're serious about visibility and tradition then I don't think you can have B teams playing their A team.

That goes for any future comp, even a hastily-cobbled-together hail mary one.

The Soup franchises have a bit more visibility and tradition. Add the Brumby Runners, and the other Soup B sides. Plus the Force of course.

Makes more sense I agree - I truly hope in view of both GRR and Super Rugby screwed this season common sense dictates something like this as teams are ready to play - fox has spare time slots to fill - just do it.

I think it is about what is easy to get going - soup teams plus b teams plus force easier to get going quickly....I think us rugby tragics are just dreamers but gees it would be good if did something like this as stop gap to give us local rugby to watch and test the boundaries of what a domestic comp could look like given opportunity presented here

So each franchise could be required to mix the players up between their two teams. The national selectors could nominate the squads. IMHO for this to have any real appeal, the teams should be named the Reds something or others, the Brumbies something or others, etc etc.

An alternative to running the respective A sides could be combining players from them all to form a 6th squad.

Disappointed in the cancellation of GRR for 2020 - especially after the Round 1 efforts of the 6 teams.

I will be happy to see attend a season of Club rugby in Perth with a chance of seeing the Western Force players working hard for their allocated teams.

I don't see why there would be any incentive for Andrew Forrest/Minderoo to provide any assistance to teams outside of WA.

Apparently they elected to take the medical advice that the virus could not be locked out in the longer term, and was better to just try to delay and suppress it as far as possible to allow the medical facilities to have an opportunity to deal with it. Time might tell if that advice has been good or bad for the country.

could be an unexpected consequence.

Might breath a lot of life into Club fixtures. Perhaps those SS media rights were worth more than anyone one thought

Wow. Maybe the incentive would be the survival of the game as a serious national sport. Does that matter at all?

Incidentally, if Twiggy/Minderoo are happy to provide assistance (if that is what the one million dollars represents) to "support" a bunch of overseas based players, why would it be somehow better than "supporting" fellow Australians? After all, we are all "teams outside of WA". What is the difference, in real terms?

We, the rugby fans, supporters, and players of the game throughout the nation are not personally responsible for the perceived sins of RA.

And nor is Andrew Forrest.

He offered RA $70 Million which was rejected out of hand by 2 Board Members (without referral to the Board).
Be angry with the State Unions (who all voted to axe the Western Force) and RA not Forrest.

I expect Minderoo to come up with a Plan B for GRR/Western Force but only after the horizon is clear/well understood.

I don’t think assistance yes - but games against oz super rugby sides might make sense for rest of season

In Russia, after seeing the matches of Round 1, Rapid became much more positive about the tournament and the participation of Krasnoyarsk clubs in it. Even those who used to harshly criticize GRR for changing the rules. Some compared it to neglect with rugby-13 and rugby-7. In Russia, many fans do not like these types of rugby. Even they revised their opinions.
I think that if we invite a couple of Rapid teams to Russia now, this will be a great step for the development of the tournament with us. So that they play against the Krasnoyarsk teams here. Anyway, in Rapid, now a forced break due to the virus.

Well, it apparently didn't matter to RA when they made the decision to axe us three years ago.

Than again, I guess it depends on how you define a "serious national sport."

Anyway, it's a moot point now. If we're lucky this will peak within a few months and life will start to return to normal, and this time next season both GRR and Super Rugby will be back underway. It's just really shitty timing all around.

Mind you, there are plenty of people suffering worse than rugby fans so I don't suppose we can complain too much.

I already wrote that in Russia there was an idea to organize a Rapid Rugby Russia 2020 promo tournament in Krasnoyarsk in early June (Enisei-STM, Krasny Yar + two GRR teams that won’t make it to the Grand Final). But due to the cancellation of games in GRR, why not organize it in the month of April? Moreover, in Russia the situation is very calm and there is no panic. Teams from Rapid can spend 2-3 weeks in Siberia in a relaxed atmosphere. Get acquainted with our culture, see the beautiful nature. Make a good advertisement of GRR in Russia.

What are you afraid of? There are no bears in cities in Siberia. Krasnoyarsk is a civilized city. There is a new international airport, 5 star hotels, all conditions for training and games.

My friend. Travel restrictions seem to be getting more and more stringent. Right now anybody arriving back from an overseas destination has to go into self-isolation for 14 days. It is possible that overseas travel will be disallowed totally in the not too distant future.

We are not afraid of bears, well, maybe a little bit scared! But we are afraid of Covid-19. Best wishes to you and your fellow rugby people.
