Expect this thread to get some activity going forward.

Im struggling with Outlander. The better half still fixated.
Think it jumped a shark a season ago. It would appear to have new writers and taken a very different direction,

Westworld
woah ep 1, that was sumptuous. The attention to detail with the city futurey shit is just mind-boggling. No more dusty sandy wild west. The futuristic houses, it was like "Billions" but with way more billions.

Where's the cops though? No people around, just a casual midnight shoot-up in the park? Thought the future would be totalitarian police state?

Forget hillbilly Dolores, woah, she's now coldly sterile 80's Robert Palmer video vamp mega-hottie murder machine.

So, since morale might need a little boosting over the next few months I can recommend a few decent shows which offer a good deal of fun and escapism:

Fringe. If you've never seen it before, you'll be kicking yourself. Part sci-fi, part mystery, part horror, with plenty of comedy mixed in for good measure. Best watched late at night with all the lights turned off.

BrainDead. Parasitic alien bugs take over the brains of Washington insiders and turn them into political extremists ... not that anyone outside Washington seems to notice. Hilarious social/political satire.

Lucifer. The Devil takes a break from Hell, moves to Los Angeles, becomes a crime fighter and starts to discover his humanity along the way. It sounds ridiculous, and it is, but it somehow just ... works.

Killjoys. A trio of wise-cracking, butt-kicking bounty hunters find themselves drawn into a sinister alien conspiracy which threatens the human race. Really fun space opera, and it'll probably take you until the final season to appreciate just how well plotted it really is.

Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeats. You can probably binge this in one afternoon. Really charming, colourful animated series set in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by giant, talking cuddly animals. It's American, but has a major Studio Ghibli vibe to it.

The Expanse. Not nearly as light as any of the other shows I've listed, but honestly, nothing I could write here would even begin to do it justice. Starts with a bang and never lets up.

The Expanse would have to be the best written sci fi space drama I've ever seen. The attention to detail is amazing.

My mate keeps recommending this show, but I barely struggled through season 1 before giving up. Thought it was poor acting and seemed goofy.

Westworld e2; I'm of middling intelligence and just barely followed along with the storyline. I can't span out and enjoy the scenery though, or drift off into another robot-rooting reverie. Have to concentrate on what they're all saying and constantly extrapolate it to my "understanding" of the show to date. Is that entertaining? I guess it must be cos I'm doing it. But I have to wonder, how do really thick bastards get on watching this thing? They must be totally fucken lost with the shifting sands of a plot. "Looks nice but what the ARSE is going on here?"

Nah DP, I'm all aboard the mental fuck of Westworld Season 3. Last night's episode was the best I've seen since season 1. Season 3 has been great. Each episode is much more focused about one singular character instead of a mess like last season.

Whaaaat the fuck did Christopher & Jonathan Nolan's parents do to them as kids. Jesus Christ. These two are responsible for 87% of all mindfucks on TV & Film.

I loved last season's dive into Warworld, with everyone talking like emotionally stunted Ernest Hemingway characters in war torn Italy, and fuck yes HBO is throwing the cheque book at another show, looks sublime.

Anyway, as I see it questions going forward (spoilers):
- Who the fuck is in Charlotte's body
- That's about it. Serac wants Dolores, Dolores wants Serac. Pretty straight forward no? Charlotte was the mole in the company before being replaced by a host.

I reckon it's either Anthony Hopkins or Ed Harris for the ultimate mindfuck from the Planet F**k

Trying not to binge Ozark, up to e3 now but need to ration that mofo out. Good to see some brutal murders to keep shit in perspective. Who will pop evil blondie lawyers daughters cherry, Wendy's son or Wendy's brother? Also put me down for evil Darlene and the rowdy blonde trailer trash girl's brother having a root.

Oh man for sure it's Ed Harris, didn't even think about that. All the stuff about Charlotte being a negligent parent like Ed too. Definitely on that bandwagon.

Friday Night Dinner back on Channel 4 in the UK for a new season. Excellent light-hearted cringe comedy if you’re looking for a 30 minute release from the current news cycle.

Anyone know if the panel discussion show, Westalk (?) is running for this season?

But if you want some great discussion, check out Alt-Shift-X on youtube. Started off doing deep dives into each GoT episode, now doing Westworld and other similar stuff. Really well made videos.
As the stupid little portable handphones metastasize our capacities for critical thinking, our attention spans atrophying away, these blind man's cane shows will become more prevalent as clots like me, long distanced from their days of sitting down for hours on end to read and follow long complex plots in paperback novels, need help in having things like "multi-layered plots" slowly explained to them

Ozark. I brilliantly had predicted that navarro would lure Bit Blonde Bitch lawyer to his lair and off her but ffs, he barely even let the mad slag get out of the fucken car! BLAM! Knew he'd react badly to her trying to hang the Byrds out to dry.
damn ep 9 was bleak. I still can't really tell when actors are Doing The Acting but even I got the feeling that brother Ben was really Doing The Acting there.
