Got me stumped why Wimbledon Tennis cant proceed in some form.

Given the logistics involved, players needing to fly in from all over the world, be housed, given training facilities, transported to and from the venue, returned home safely etc etc I am not at all surprised. Particularly given the current situation in the UK, more (reported) deaths than the PRC. It would be pretty foolhardy to lock something as complex as Wimbledon in now.


Airlines are stopping their operations. How on earth would players get there and back home?

Limited to players who can walk to and from Wimbledon, ditto for officials. No catering for players of course (everybody would have to walk home for meals etc). Why should it be limited to English players, there might be other handy players within walking range.

Wam, given how fast things events keep moving in relation to COVID 19.

What seems feasible and possible a few days ago is now impossible. Today we learn the UK PM in hospital. So nothing is going to happen in England for a while.
