Stirling Mortlock (74)
I'd have Never Mind the Bollocks in there somewhere: sure, there's some crap filler but Pretty Vacant, Anarchy In the U.K. & God Save the Queen still kick arse after all these years & are surely the greatest sequence of singles from a debut album EVER. Also Nevermind: Smells Like Teen Spirit, In Bloom & Come As You Are, to-die-for great tracks.

Just to prove I'm not a total pogo-dancing headbanger, I'd also include Jackson Browne's Running On Empty & the mighty Pogues' Rum, Sodomy & the Lash which even has a Strayan connection, And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda but the highlights are defo Sally MacLenanne, Dirty Old Town & A Pair of Brown Eyes.

EDIT: I'm also rather partial to the other Pogues classic If I Should Fall From Grace With God, mostly for Thousands Are Sailing but also the title track & Lullaby of London. Fairytale of New York suffers from being regarded by many (clearly retarded) people as a Christmas song.

You're a bum you're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on that drip in that bed
You scumbag you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse I pray God it's our last

Spirit of Christmas right there, eh :)

1 Frizzle Fry: one of my first "weird" gateway bands. saw them about 5 times in 1991 on west coast of US
2 Pork Soda
3 Suck on This
4 Tales from Punchbowl

Brown Album: never clicked

I loved the Brown Album's 70s porno sound (apparently recorded on equipment they picked up from pawnshops) mixed with a weird Les Claypool late 18th century goldrush vibe. Not sure even the band liked it.

But I agree with you 100%, Frizzle Fry is their best. Classic Claypool, and Lalonde just fucking primally rips in through all the intricate slapping and tapping.

Weird to think that Bob C Cock is now an animator with Pixar.

My kids are putting me onto some great music. The daughter unit (12) introduced me to LoFi hip hop which is bloody awesome to work to along with Chillstep.

The boy (near 16) plays guitar and sings, and introduced me to this little gem:

Dismal Pillock

Simon Poidevin (60)
"lo fi-hip hop chillstep" wft I just cant keep up

pfitz, you/the lad would probably like some Mark Lanegan I reckon

There's a great youtube clip titled 'lo-fi hip hop beats to study to', or something similar which just plays constantly. Great background music.

Got a couple on the boil now. I tried to clean some old carpet with soapy water (IDIOT!) and am now learning how to properly lift it, dry it and restretch it. Useful but avoidable.

I've cycled the distance of Melbourne to Mildura in the last month, all within 5km of home and in ~1h increments. I also picked up a skipping rope yesterday. All in the name of burning the excess energy that isolation is building.
