^ Carlos says he was told last week he'd be made redundant at the end of the season & decided to finish up sooner:

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/rugby/news/article.cfm?c_id=80&objectid=12344217

I don't think he'll be unemployed for longer than he wants to be.

I hope that is the case WOB, and he working soon .Carlos did make it clear when going to Canes he really wanted to be at Blues!. His whanau are living in Hamilton , so guessing he figured getting back up there early was an idea. Think maybe his Mum and Dad must of headed up that way as sister does stuff with his mum!

These games have all shown up the stupidity of the law changes here in Australia.

Totally necessary. Other than limiting scrum resets and for once policing the breakdown, both which I agree with. NONE of these new laws will every make it out of the country.

All for the sake of trying to get fans back through supposedly "more exciting open" rugby.

If the NZ derbies were not exciting enough over the last two weeks, rugby is not for you.

PS pass and catch properly like the Kiwis and there will be less scrums anyway.

I agree. You can actually make a large difference to the watchable product in rugby by tweaking laws/interpretations.

Australia seems to have this addiction to try and turn rugby into rugby league by proposing radical changes. It's very strange.
And if being more stringent at the breakdown works well then you have a chance of the changes being adopted globally. Can’t see line dropouts instead of 5m scrums ever being popular in SA or the NH.

I as amazed at how fast the players adapted to the breakdown policing in round 2.

Also thought the refs are doing a good job communicating.

Love the fact that players flying off their feet are getting pinged.

I am liking the look of the line ups for the Southern clash, I have actually picked the Clan for an upset on the strenght of their 2 locks who are both good boys along with Frizzell, and throw in Borwnie's backs playing under the roof......... By the same token that not a rubbish Saders mob, interesting Jordan on wing, I think one of his biggest things that may hold him back from ABs is he really a genuine FB/wing, and the trend seems to be double playmakers at the moment!

Highlanders backs still look unsettled outside of 9.

I can't understand why Tei Walden isn't the starting 12. They could use NMS experience in the back 3 whenever he is fit too. When your answer is to put Michael Collins as a starter you know you have problems.

Sky setting the scene for tonight by replaying "Otago" v "Canterbury" at the House of Pain back in 1997 & I can confirm that ""Boomfa!" was in use at that time, at least by Paul Henderson who was for reasons unknown in the comments seat that night. On which, despite it pissing down rain at times, the 'brook was jam packed. Graphics a bit sketchy as you'd expect what with Y2K looming, probably running Windows95 or some other obsolete shit, so not entirely sure of the score but I am damn sure that Rugby Was The Winner On The Night. A veritable cavalcade of "oh yeah, I remember that guy" players & absolute scenes at full time, people just ambling about on the hallowed turf & not a Red Badge Nazi in sight. Good times, the late '90's.

Someone must've switched out Frizzle's regular crossword for the cryptic. He's steamed! Bout time he brought the pain.

How many fucking points have the Crusaders been given over the years off the back of absolute garbage refereeing? I'm so sick of this shit.

8-1 pens to cantabs then all 3 of the officials miss a wild forward pass and instead give the cantabs a pisseasy 3 for their troubles. ffs.

Aaron Smith has definitely had his pre-match Red Bull. Everything is a 5th gear blur.

Great game so far.

Yeah, still a cracker of a game. Reckon seeing an Aaron Smith rocket out to the backs is worth the price of admission.
