Super Rugby AU R3 - Reds v Force

Well was at the game and probably one of most enjoyable games I been to at Suncorp for a while! I still owing Force apologies for saying they probably wouldn't be up to Super AU standard, they look pretty well set up and that was a good preformance. I admit I was there as a Reds supporter in this comp, but would of been very happy with a Force win anyway and they now definitely my 2nd Aus team. Funny thing was noone stood out in game, just both teams went well!

Well Wessels would probably have been coaching rather than SAmpson so no guarantees.

If you gad told me we’d be winning games without Rodda, Hockings and Blyth I’d have not believed you. Really gutsy win tonight Reds. Against a very well coached outfit.

Be interesting to see if Wessels goes back to Force with the Rebel's players I reckon Twiggy will be buying back? He still seems pretty bitter a lot of Rebels are Force players, and a lot did indicate they would prefer to be at Force when they were made to move!

Yeah - cracking game I thought and so much to like about it.

Despite such a good show, I’m sure the Force boys will be filthy they let another one get away from them. Plenty to like about how they play.

Whilst the Reds have a few things to work it was good to see them starting to play much more cohesively and put together some very good tries and good continuity. And there is a lot to be said about being able to hold together at the end and get the win, especially backing up from last weeks effort to snatch the draw.

It’s interesting that after the Bronco’s flogging last night I am already reading comments about fans getting on the Reds band wagon.

Thought the ASY (Angus Scott-Young) experiment at lock worked , his effort around the park is fantastic.

LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) had a cracker , seems to have stood up as a forward leader since Rodda said goodbye.

Wright again good and his lineout work and timing were spot on . They were getting him a long way off the ground .

The lineout functioned well with the three above as targets and quite a few spoils against the throw gave the Reds the edge for a change. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)’s défensive lineout work was top shelf.

Wilso had a quiet night by his recent standards , but did quite a few tough carries through the middle, think that is the first time he has been subbed without being injured ?

Backline looks much improved with Jock at 15 and CFS starting . Chris is playing consistently good footy at the moment and happy to see him starting .

Well done to the Force , before the Ralston intercept try it felt like the flood gates were about to open , but they stayed in the fight , great to see them back .

What a great game. Good quality all round.

That game was an advertisement for why we should not cut a team. If we only had 2/3 teams in a TT comp, how would guys like Tevan Ferris, Ralston, Stander etc get a go. The #1 for the force was excellent as well.
I thought this game was an advertisement for why we should not have a trans tasman competition. I love that the Super AU games are competitive and would rather watch this that watch Aussie teams get pumped by 20-40 points by the NZ teams.

Stick with an AU competition and then let our winner play their winner each year.

Hardwick, DHP and RHP I can see going back one day. The rest aren’t ‘Force’ players, they have all played more games for Rebels and lived longer in Vic than WA. It’s more likelihood of the ‘Force’ players going home to NSW. There is a total of 4 genuine WA players at the Rebels, the 3 named and Jermaine Ainsley.

I thought O’Connor was excellent last night too. Intercept was obviously a mistake but, other than that, mixed up his game well and sparked plenty of attack. He may not be a classic 10 but he brings plenty to the position when on song and his reading of the game is better than most in Australian rugby.

Lance was great too.

If we had a winger still around (Speight) id be brining in CFS to 13 and benching Hunter. His defensive reads really are impacting us.
Agree Reg ,

Seems to always try and put on a hit as well , spectacular when they come off , last night he hit a couple of guys hard , but the tackle was ineffective and didn’t shut down the play . It could end up being costly at some stage in the season.

Would also like our scrum to occasionally just set a good platform for the backs to attack off rather than looking to dominate every time. Fast ball to the outside channels was working earlier in the season . Think they are going for the scrum penalty too often .

The Reds are getting better but still need to learn how the change from a backs game to a forwards game at critical parts of the game. Kicking up field from our half into opponents 22 without chasers is not effective when there are others options to keep possession. Enjoying this top of the ladder status.

CFS and Daugunu both shot out of the line a few times as well. I think the Reds were deliberately jamming in defence rather than drifting. I’d be cautious of that tactic against the Brumbies who will be able to adjust mid game and play more out the back.

Agreed. I also think a lot of Australian fans are enjoying watching games between teams based in cities they've actually heard of.
