Waratahs 2020

Telegraph saying Sua'ali'i is poised to backflip on the Rabbitohs to sign with Waratahs for $1m a season. Surely doesn’t seem right

The Fox Sports article suggests he could debut for the Waratahs within a month which would be just after turning 17.

Yeehaw, I love some fucking crazy signings for stupid amounts of money. Sure, use some of that money to try and keep Rodda, Coleman, Skelton or Arnold. But why not go nuts for a literal teenager. Bring on Bieber 2.0.

Wow did not see that

I had tears of joy when I read this - this is massive coup as the kid is a once in a generation talent! But surely just an April fools joke as almost sounds too good to be true.

I really hope the amount is wrong. Money is meant to be tight across rugby.

Talented yes but still a kid. A lot of pressure on him.

I hope he succeeds

Didn't he train with the Mens 7's team? I wonder if Tokoyo is something they are thinking about at all?

I agree. I'm a little curious how this is going to look to some players who signed off on the 60 and then 30 percent paycuts or the numerous other staff who lost their jobs.

Has anyone seen him run around much for Kings. Is he really worth it at this age?

In League, you sometimes pay overs to a young star to attract other talent. Newcastle did it with Ponga and it worked. I'd say, aside from wanting him, they're also trying to send a message to future talent that there is a pathway in Union. Particularly after all the bad press where Crichton was purportedly told there was no definite timeline for him to play for the Tahs.

I’ve seen him play a few times and I’ve seen him at GPS athletics. He is an absolute physical specimen: good speed and huge vertical on him. He has good footwork and can evade players on the outside or run straight through them. Physically he is an Israel Folau clone. Talking to some Kings parents apparently he has a good humble head on his shoulders too.

Doesn’t mean he is worth that amount though but good luck to him.

Yep just read that in espn article was about to post. Wonder who leaked this...I mean Murdoch papers are they playing cruel joke or is the kid seriously considering reneging on league...sadly feel when sometimes too good to be true - it is too good to be true

Pass it to Dunning!

There's a bunch of rugby league agents who tell the Telegraph that their star player is looking for switch to union. Happened with Latrell Mitchell, Ponga, Fifita, the list goes on. It's a way of getting their NRL club to pay more. This time it looks like didn't get the okay from Rugby Australia.

Well, Coleman at least is earning way over the "alleged" amount here, so hard to see anything financial enticing him back, and I think Arnold and Skelton are on a fair bit too. Rodda is playing the "filler between gigs" hand to up his earnings as far as I see, so a different scenario.
Even if Sua'ali'i has been offered anything like that, I'd bet a fair chunk is some 3rd party deal, not RA accounts. Not to mention what is being offered just to be contracted, against "potential" earnings from Tests etc.........
Nonetheless, I gotta say I find it interesting how much credibility some posters place in an article from such a source, given some of the experience of recent months.
I'll believe he's coming when I see it, and I'd not believe a number from Fox sports or the Tele.
