Super Rugby Au Round 9 - Rebels vs Waratahs, 7:15pm Sat 29th August

Mr Wobbly

Alan Cameron (40)
The Rebels "host" the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval, 7:15pm Saturday 29/08/2020.

Neither team had a good result last start but lets forget all that.

This week the Mighty Rebels have the chance to end the Tah's miserable season. What more motivation could they need? Get it done boys!

What a fantastic match up at one of Sydney's best suburban playing fields. Surely will pull a crowd.

21 degrees & sunny on Saturday! Sounds great. Going to the snow this weekend (tough life) otherwise I'd be there with bells on.

Hopefully Rebels are rested and not too homesick. Melbourne by 10.

Carn the Rebs.

Philip, Wilkin and Naisarani are my key men to unsettle the flowers.

Don’t remember you being so explicitly anti-Tahs in the old Super comp (although, I’m sure the hatred was bubbling under the surface). SuperAU is really firing up the interstate hatred as a good comp should.

Nah I think it was always there - it was much worse when you were good :)

I genuinely really don’t like the flowers. Would much prefer a kiwi side to win over them.

Something about a poster asking if our coach was getting sacked didn’t sit well with me either.

But that aside, hope the Rebels bludgeon them.

Love the Brumbies, and think WA could become the third power base of Australian rugby.

Should've moved up to the Gold Coast when the Force did, would've had a shorter trip for the reds game as well.

Did you see the travel video from match day on the Rebels FB page, surprised they managed to play at all. 4-5 hours travel pre game, and than not back to the team hotel till 3:30am.

yeah, that home field advantage has become pretty massive in this comp with the match day travel associated.

However for a new model it shows it can be done (and will be easier post COVID).

It is for the betterment of Australian rugby that the Rebels win. The Waratahs will be in a better place after eating some more humility pie.

This origin thing is going to be interesting for you when 2/3 of the Brumbies trot out for the NSW team. In fairness you won’t be alone, BR will have the same issue, although he will just complain there are too many Tahs players in the NSW team.

Tahs have been shite for 5 years. Not sure how much more humility we need. Another couple of years and we'll be hitting Reds levels of sustained underperformance.

Somehow I think the QLD side will probably be ok.

But I am glad the thought gives you some comfort.

Up the Rebels.

Not even the Tahs, like the Tahs.

If the Rebels make this a grind they will win comfortably. Yet to see the Tahs show they can mix in when the tough stuff comes calling. On saying that, if the rebels arrive and decide they need to move from their territory game they have been playing and try to fling the ball around the Tahs will out ‘touch footy’ them.

I don’t see where I mentioned the Qld team. I know you’re a Queenslander and I agree they will be fine, the point was that the Brumbies that you love will all of a sudden be playing for NSW, who you hate.

Not sure what a NSWelshman did to you for you to hate NSW with a passion. I have lived in NSW all my life, so obviously that’s who I support. But I also have plenty of Qld friends, and family in fact, and I get the rivalry but I don’t hate anyone purely for the fact that they are from Qld, in fact I like seeing their players go well, particularly those in Wallabies contention.

And for the record, where did I say it gave me comfort, I merely was curious as to what your stance would be.

Oh, and 45-12.

I actually don't hate NSW, I hate the Waratahs. Disaster of an organisation.

I don't suddenly dislike Brumbies playing for NSW that ridiculous.

The Brumbies are hard nosed, humble and a great asset to Australian rugby.

The Waratahs, and their supporters are the opposite.

But no, if you do have a genuine interest, I would have no problem with Brumbies players playing for NSW.

The culture of the Brumbies is poles apart from the Tahs - in fact the Brumbies players will make NSW much more palatable.
