Wallabies 2020

Uh huh

Cheslin Kolbe is 5 foot + change and no-one questions his spot starting in the world cup final.

Hodge gets burnt on the outside, Banks and Maddocks can't defend on the wing, leaving you only Wright as the alternative if it isn't Daugunu.

Sounds like a pretty strong argument for Andy Muirhead....

Muirhead played himself into some form late in the season and played a great GF - but don't let that fool you into thinking he's ready for internationals just because that performance is fresh in your mind.

He was out of favour and only got back into the side really when Kata got injured.

I think people are judging Daugunu too harshly to be honest. A tip tackle in the first trial game of the season and then one in the final game of the season doesn't mean he's some sort of liability to be carded. If that's the case you would say all openside flankers who play over the ball are at the same risk of a card and therefore shouldn't be selected.

Of course it means hes a liability to get carded?

Its the opensides job to push the limits. Not the wingers job to tip tackle people.

Hey, against the Rebels he made a pretty freaking good case for him to play winger of the forwards (flanker)!

Is Wright behind Daugunu as a ball runner? I wont forget the ankle breaker he put on Marky Mark (Nawaqanitawase) earlier in the season I think it was Petaia he did it to also pre COVID and then McReight on the weekend. He has shown his footwork and speed as well as his try scoring ability. Id say line ball between them on that part of their game. Although Wright is streets ahead in his passing and link play as well as his kicking game.

I think Ramm will be in the same conversation next year with another season under his belt.

I don't see why everyone is writing off Daugunu under the high ball etc. He's not been in that role because the Reds to play that way, but he's more than capable under the high ball, he's got a more than adequate kicking game (he's kicked for goal -- he's got a kicking game!).
I agree he's not been playing like that, but he's capable of it.

He does have a kicking game, sure. One kick in the semi which sailed into touch on the full, and not even one in the final that I recall. Small sample, but not encouraging in an international winger with pretensions to some fullback abilities.

Yeah it wasn't a serious suggestion; just a response to the "Cheslin Kolbe is small but also good" non-sequitur.

I maintain that Muirhead was good enough to start for the Brumbies all season, but completely understand him not being selected for the Wallabies.

Who do you have as the AB wingers?

He's probably thinking J. Barrett at FB with Will Jordan on one wing with Clarke or Bridge on other.

I suspect Reece will be starting but we'll see the other wingers all get a shot with more than decent game time.

mmmm embarrassment of riches isn't it

Personally id go J. Barrett at FB, Sevu and Clarke on the wings with Will Jordan on the bench

No bloody clue what to do with DMac and Mounga tho

I can't understand why they never scheduled a 5th Bledisloe test. They wanted to get maximum revenue by having two on each side of the Tasman so why stop at 4?

They are playing 2 in NZ and 2 in Australia (doubling as RC matches).

Imagine if the Wallabies tied the series 2-2? NZ would retain the cup.

Fans on both sides would be extremely discontent with a drawn series.
