New Zealand vs Australia Oct 11 2020 Bledisloe Cup

Fucking hell. Why Rob.

Been saying it for years - the shit for brains penalties at crucial moments/positions, are not worth the other skills he brings.

He's good set set piece stuff, sure. Tackles well etc. IE, does his basic job, well. Sweet.

Take out these match losing penalties, and he'd be a great player. He keeps doing them, though. When you're 21, I can see past them to future potential.

10 years straight of the same shit though, and I think 'ok mate, time to cash in over in Japan, thanks for your service'.

I mean, all controversy aside, that was one hell of an effort. I'm sure a lot of us were hoping for something like that but expecting much less. Forwards were awesome in D and with ball in hand. I think we dominated the contact. Scrum and line out were alright but need to improve.

My takeaways:

- All debutantes were fantastic, Wilson was close to my best forward, Paisami and Daugunu were outstanding too.

- Lineout was an issue but I thought both 2nd rows were great, they hit hard all day and made meters. Will have to look again but seemed like a lot of the lineout problems were more with the thrower.

- Backline looked a bit disjointed in general, To'omua kicking away was a huge issue. I won't say I told you so but yea, much as expected.

- All front rowers were great (aside from FF (Folau Fainga'a)). Reserves came on and made a big impact.

- A lot of players seemed to grow into the match and I expect they will be much better for the experience. Banks started solid but finished pretty strongly.

- I'd look at changing up 12, 2 and maybe 8. AAA might be in with a shot of starting too but as expected the front rowers will be sharing a lot of time.

I'm definitely going to watch that again. Shame about the draw but what a finish and game!

Yeah, could have been one down the other end too. And that was off the back off an unusual 'advantage'.

AB's seemed underprepared for the conditions. Had no idea under the high ball first half. Serious lack of leadership at the end. It's pissing rain and 2m out. Keep it fucking tight!

Drop Ioane, unforgivable shit that is. His arrogance after his first year has overstepped his talent. Bench the 10 that doesn't kick and pick the more talented 10 that doesn't kick.

I really couldn't understand what Fossie was going for in this game.

Though Philip had a great game, probably the best of the forwards

All the forwards played well, Topou had some nice touches. Wilson was good, seemed to find himself at first receiver a lot. dont know if that was planned. But I did like him out wide on the right side, got some nice offloads.

Dungonu outstanding on debut

I don't want to just pile in on him but I wouldn't even credit Simmons with what you have there. He has never dominated set piece, never carried well and only rarely hits a ruck or tackle. I think he can do all that but he just hasn't ever with any consistency.

I was pacing in the room from Hodge stepping up to kick and didn’t stop for 10 mins. Taking the draw was easily the right call, +8mins, 100 yards to the try line, everyone exhausted, shit conditions.

Banks grew through the game though I’d still use Hodge.
Did not see the advantage of Gordon over Tate.
The Paisami critics fell flat, he was fine.
Should have brought Simmo and Uelese on considerably earlier.
Hooper showed class for his 100.
Not sure on White, I’d start Tate and let White settle things from the bench.
JOC (James O'Connor) - To'omua combination is better than workable.
Daugunu excellent debut.
Wilson OK must rewatch to see what I think.

Did Lolesio get time. If you’re not going to expose him bench 6/2 and stock another loosie.

Well done team. Win the home games and we keep the cup. Not a bad result.

White, Samu, Banks and Koroibete all had forgettable first halves but improved significantly as the game went on. Let's not forget this was the first game of the season and we drew with the All Blacks at home, care of some shocking refereeing blunders. The only change I'd be inclined to make is to replace Simmons with LITERALLY ANYBODY.

I really couldn't understand what Fossie was going for in this game.

He's determined to carry on the AB's long world cup tradition of picking players out of position. Tell Ioane to piss off out of the centres back to being the best winger on the planet. Tell Beauden to start practicing goal kicking so he can be the best 10 in the world again. Tell Mounga to bring a cushion for the bench. Tell Sam Cane or Whitelock to visit the wizard of oz and find a brain.

Guh! Under the posts, driving rain. We throw a dicey pass out to the midfield. That reeks of a lack of preparation! No one thought to drive to the posts or kick a simple drop goal...

I really think people were overly critical of White. For the style of 9 that he is, I think he put in a solid performance. His box kicking generally was effective, speed to ruck good, kept the defence guessing around the ruck often making good ad-line and fracturing their defensive structure, was reasonable in defence. Some of his passing could have been better and I'm not sure that the team was always with him with his decision making, but they'll get in sync.
