Wallabies 2023

Elite coaching is a ruthless career though, especially in Australian rugby. You'd think Dave would have gone into this with his eyes wide open but still can't help feeling awful for him. Always came across as a genuinely nice man, which perhaps may have contributed to the decision to bring the most hard-edged bastard in the game in to replace him.

I reckon we'll get a sweet little sugar hit over the coming months from a rabid aggressive coach but that has its limits. Hopefully we can carry through some momentum into RWC then deal with the inevitable shitstorm after.
If we win the bledisloe this year followed by a good showing at the RWC I think that would mean more to us when we have a future home RWC on the way

I think the reason we all feel bad for Rennie is because he is such a nice bloke so we all sorta adopted the Kiwi. But if cheika was at 38% win rate we would have had him drawn and quartered on free to air tv

Be careful No Eden park this year and it’s only a two game series now
I read it as though Blue was looking for an excuse to do it. He'd be aware that the Bledisloe is ours this year with Eddie back. Quade may also be fit, Those 2 really got along well when they were together at the Reds.

So the only two current players who would've had anything to do with Eddie are Quade and Kerevi.

Want to know who else is at Suntory? McMahon and Harry Hockings.
Yeah, I think that's it for players.

I think that Reds squad did include a few current coaches/administrators though - Ben Mowen, Sam Cordingley and most interestingly, Dan McKellar.

What's everyone expecting from Eddie in terms of playstyle? I think we may see the Wallabies go back to a similar game plan he was used when England had their massive win streak - which was generally branded as boring/dull.

Kicking/territory and letting the oppositions mistakes lead to points.

I think Eddie is smart enough to take a horses for courses approach. He didn't play that way in Japan as they didn't have the players to use that style. England had massive bruisers so he seemed to use a different approach.

Australia have an odd array of talent and strengths/weaknesses so I don't know what he'll do. It depends massively on who is fit/available. I can't see a 10 man rugby approach as they don't, barring sudden improvements, have the players to do that. And they have too many talented ball runners and play makers around the pitch, if healthy.

Maybe this "Australian" style of play, running rugby etc is no longer the best for us anymore. We don't really play smart rugby like we used to be known for.

Maybe we are better off going down a different path and playing a bash and crash style anyway. We have the players available - Tupou, Skelton, Leota, Valetini, Kerevi, Koribete. We could pick a pretty damn big physical team.

That crash and bash big body style hasn't been too successful for the PI teams though. Tonga, Samoa and Fiji et al trophy cabinents arent exactly bulging.

Aussies best teams were the ones that played with intelligence (Lynagh), were adaptive to the circumstance (Ella) and played with a bit of flair and style in the mid field (Papworth/Hawker, Horan/Little)

Australia's best teams were the ones that had brilliant generational players (Campese, Eales, Horan, Larkham, Burke).

Anyone know of any similar players available?
