Riverview vs Kings - What a thriller

Riverview did have King's on the ropes, however I felt the crowd was monumental in energising the King's players during the second half. It was almost deafening standing next to them. I said before the crowd would play a part in this game, and it did.

Great job fellas, great win and deserving premiership.

kings win there 3rd premiership in last 5 seasons with a dominant second half.

kings were told there to unfit, they need to put points on early to have any chance. They were the underdogs today

The number 9 got a broken hand in first 5 minutes and the number 7 looked to have a broken shoulder, they were down 10-3 in the first half, there winger was yellow carded (and racially abused by the view old boys) but through all that, still they won !

No excuses, just winning
Riverview looked unfit haha

Agreed
It was a marathon effort from the Kings boys chanting one War Cry after another for the best part of the whole game.

The famous Marty from Riverview was out manoeuvred today.

The ‘view boys are absolutely gutted. They played good footie in the first half but got starved of possession in the second half. Kings refined their game play, kept it simple - a forwards orientated power game. They didn’t even need to use their fire power out wide. So kudos to them. Deserved winners. ‘view should hold their heads high. They played some entertaining rugby and tackled with venom. Joeys will suit them better and this one could be an absolute barn burner.

Beautiful weather for spectating rugby today at Riverview. The steak, bacon and egg roll with onion hit the spot.
The match played out in the reverse fashion to what I, and most others were expecting. Riverview on top early with Kings finishing stronger in the second half.
Riverview were immense in the first half, leading on the scoreboard and also had the upper hand in momentum. Their defence was superb.
Joe Dillon provided some very classy touches, his short chips in behind the Kings line worked very well. And he nailed a cracker 50/22 kick to put View right on the front foot.
The Riverview forwards did a really good job defending the Kings rolling maul. Snuffing it out more than once, and even gaining possession when the maul broke down.

There were certainly a lot of very concerned Kings supporters at the half time break.
Kings tightened up their game in the second half to wrestle back the momentum and score some points. Hadley Tonga was a real handful, beating his opposite man on most occasions and making a lot of metres. Boston did what he does best and made something out of nothing a couple of times. But it was the Kings forward pack that turned the game, with tough work in the second half.
As a Kings supporter it was great to see all the Kings boys in good voice, and then invade the pitch after the final whistle to congratulate their 1st XV.
The crowd spirit and demeanour was great, marred only by some Riverview old boys who insisted on screeching at the Kings kicker each time he was about the strike the ball on the kicking tee. Disappointing display of character from those fellas. They would have been taught better, back when they attended the school, as displayed by the current View students who conducted themselves very well.

Incredibly disrespectful to call him ‘Marty’. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Harry

Isn’t that the name that’s printed on the rear of his Riverview jersey ? I spoke with him at length in round 1 at Kings, a really great guy. What seems to be the problem or are you winding me up ?

It is Matty. Known him for over 22 years. When I worked at Scots I was given the opportunity to take him around, made sure he had lunch (free BBQ) and made possible that he could do his goal kicking at the halftime breaks. He loves talking to the opposition kids and it an identity in schoolboy rugby. An institution at Riverview
