GPS champions and beating View by 30 points isnt good enough for you?

Anywaym, I'm new here, but I guess I'll give my input.

Newington certainly have improved dramatically over the season, there is no doubt about it. They went from losing 22-7 to Kings and drawing with Joeys, to beating Kings by a point and completely outplaying Joeys. It is a young side and this augurs well for the next few seasons at New.

Kind of expected Shore to beat Joeys, I don't know why but I had a feeling.

How did the Kings/Scots game go? Also, does anyone have 2nds results for any of the matches played?

Unrelated, but how did the soccer go? View were playing for a premiership, and so were Kings i believe.

Informer, I think you need to read some previous posts about the composition of the team. Also to CAJacobs, you would be wise to check your facts before you start commenting.

Shore 32 Joeys 19

Congratulations to Shore for finishing the season strongly. They had improved a lot since I saw them in the trials and were too good for Joeys. They scored 5 tries to 3 and even left a few tries on the park. The Hunters Hill faithful were hoping their team would bounce back from their worst loss since 1923 but despite a few might-have-been moments, they were much the same out of sorts team as last week against Newington.

Joeys got the score back to 19-20 but the key moment was when one of the Joeys backs got isolated on his own 22 and Shore nabbed the ball and it was a try under the post.

Not a lot of the Joeys lads had great games and the connection between the 9, 10 and 12 failed too often. 7. Dicembre had a terrific 2nd half though and 14. Buchanan was impressive.

Shore had trouble finishing moves because some of the passing whist running at speed was poor. 12. Giddey, one of the few lads who will be returning next year, was hard to stop but the strength of Shore was in the forwards. Their maul work was excellent and made their 1st try look too easy. The pack was stronger than that of Joeys and I thought that 3. Berkman and 8. Rollins were outstanding taking the ball up.

Joeys didn't have a strong team this year and it makes their heroic wins against Kings and View all the more meritorious.

Other scores (all wins to Joeys):
15A 22-0
16A 26-10
Threes 10-6
Twos 24-14

Congratulations to the Joeys Twos and Threes who won their Premierships and were undefeated this season.

Team of Year: Newington
Player of Year: Boyd Killingwort or Luani
Young Gun of the year: (assuming yr 11 player) - angus le leivre
Underachiever of year: Scots (thought theyd topple more top sides)
Overachiever of year: Shore (originally thought theyd struggle to beat Grammar. But end up beating Joeys). Joeys as well (beating Kings and View was tremendous considering the calibre of players between the two teams).
Team to Watch: New of course along with Joeys as usual.

Sorry no match report this week, I had work.

And Informer has a two week ban for his stupid comment. Any talk of scholarships should be on that thread, I wont tolerate any of it here. Especially any uninformed stirring.

Now that the season is over, where will the star Yr 12 boys be playing next year? Union or the dark side? If union, grade or colts? And of course, which club?

wow I can't believe Grammar only be High 20-11. Great effort on High's behalf! Does anyone know when High will be making a return to the 1st XV comp? I've heard rumours of 2012??

please correct me

The Grammar vs High match wasn't a bad game. High's back line defence held up surprisingly well considering that at the start of the season the Grammar backs were totally ripping through them. High very nearly might've caused an upset had the halfback not missed the conversion and the flanker not dropping the ensuing kickoff.

Obviously High want to get into the 1st Grade competition as soon as possible and as we all know all grades have been playing a level down with the exception of the 15's. Considering they were playing the A teams they did alright (especially compared to Grammar against B teams) however they lost to Grammar 21-5 (beat them in preseason though). The 14 A's lost 17-0 but the B's won 27-5.
