Except he takes all his lyrics from holy scriptures.

Bon Jovi is the greatest band. EVER.

I really hope you forgot to add the :fishing

Judas Priest, on the other hand. Just amazing, and lyrical geniuses too!

I really like 'The XX'

Their album is the best thing I have heard in a while...

Very good recommendation - Thanks. Got some and I like it.

Can I return the favour and recommend the "Buddha Bar" compilations. A mate of mine put me on to Volume X. There is apparently a big collection. Best to rely on the Wikipedia description to describe the music as I struggle to describe it.

The Buddha Bar music series is a compilation of lounge, chill out music and world music, released by George V Records.
The series was created by DJ and Buddha Bar founder Claude Challe who compiled and produced the first two albums. The series has continued with different DJs, including DJ Ravin, Sam Popat, and David Visan.

Young and old don't seem to mind it which is in itself quite rare.

I need some music for a presentation I am putting together for an elderly family member's 90th. We have a slide show of her life and need a bit of a backing tape with music from her era (1930's-1950's) particularly.

I don't think Machine Gun Fellatio will go down well. Any recommendations of "good" stuff from the 30's and 40's maybe even the 20's that will appeal to oldies and not put the others to sleep?

Where can you get "Old" music in mp3 or mp4 format?

I know I come across as an "electonica" kind of dude, but at heart, I am really a Steel Panther groupie.

References to the Wobs in pop culture

While listening to Joe Jackson Live recording t'other day and in the intro to "Real Men" (outro from "Sunday Papers"), he says "All right, this is a song for the Australian Rugby Team after their incredible triumph a few days ago"

Most interesting and it lead me to think the following:
a. What triumph was he referring to? (given the wikipedia information below I presume it may be the 84 Grand Slam.

b. Where else in popular culture are the Wallabies, (or any other rugby team for that matter mentioned ?
- apart from the obvious Munster victory over the Darkness in '78

c. Real Men is claimed to be obliquely about the gay culture in New York City in the '80's. This is a most unusual song to dedicate to the Wobs given the prevaling homophobia of the 80's. Was Joe a genuine Rugby fan or was he trying to take the piss? Is there an underlying message there from Joe? Interesting.

Wikipedia tells us the following
Live 1980/86 is a Joe Jackson double live album, released in May 1988.[1] It was recorded during the 1980 Beat Crazy tour, the 1982-83 Night and Day tour, the 1984 Body & Soul tour, and the 1986 Big World tour

Was just listening to Body + Soul only yesterday. Great album. Saw Joe live a couple of years ago and he was great. Doesn't strike me as a rugby fan, but he's a surprising bloke in other ways so you never know.

Kick ass in a very unique sort of way. Love the Stripes older garage stuff. Loads on youtube.

Dolly Parton's milk went sour the first time she heard this shit:

Two people can make a whole load of noise.

Not everyone's cup of tea but I am a huge Gnarls Barkley fan.

Their work At Abbey Road is sensational.

Cee Lo's voice lives in another universe.

I love Cee Lo Green's new single. Called Fuck You. Sums him up if you bother reading up a bit about him. Very clever. All bee boppy but fuck you all the same.

Two great musicians doing their versions of the same song.

First, Mike Keneally, a great guitarist and keyboard player (he has some smokin' music of his own). I've heard his piano playing described as Keith Jarrett-esque. I agree with that.

Now Steve Vai's version.

One of my later discoveries is this fine ensemble, Cinematic Orchestra. Very aptly named I think.
