The Kings Speech was a great movie, probably my pick for movie of the year followed by The Social Network.
Just saw Animal Kingdom on the plane and enjoyed it. If you liked it and want to see other similar aussie flicks then check out:
- The Boys from the late 90s with David Wenham and Toni Collette.
- The Idiot Box also with Ben Mendelsohn.
Beneath Hill 60 was an amazing film. On par with Gallipoli as a far as war films go.
Saw the A-Team last week.
Whilst it isn't going to be a classic it surely is fun. With quite a few laughs.
Belief does need to be suspended in a few scenes.
Sharlto Copley (District 9) steals the show as Murdock.
"The Castle" ... my favourite Australian film.... ostensibly a comedy...it embodies a very sensitive portrayal of family life and triumph over adversity...
got a couple that are out on dvd now but went right under the radar.
first up is Special, with all the superhero films out there at the moment, this is the best one of the regular joes become superhero movies. Absolutely beautiful and disturbing at the same time (and well linked to GAGRs job, hope you like it mate)

next up is a swedish vampire movie, "let the right one in", unfortunately its in subtitles so those in qld wont be able to follow the fantastic story but its also one of the most strickingly beautiful films ive ever seen. its not the action packed movie the trailer suggests, its more about suspence and isolation but the pay off is fantastic

Saw Love and Other Drugs. Don't get why they are marketing it as a romantic comedy, because it's not, and it's not much like its trailer either.
Yeah, was an OK movie from basically a bunch of amateurs. I think the guy you refer to was also the author, Matt Noble or something similiar. He played lower grades for Manly late 80's I think
