I'm on the SIRU website pretty regularly, and Mick keeps it running really well, I was thinking more along the lines of some info from the sidelines i guess. It's always good to hear about games from people who were actually there.

SIRU has just announced their Rep Team for the triangular tournament betwee Far South Coast and Monaro. Coached by Ricky Dumigan (ex-Randwick half back), this side should show some form. The backline is red-hot, good hands all round, solid defence and two big centres.

Go the Tuskers. They have their annual charity fundraiser called Dizey's Day on June 18th which includes a legends game. Last year Tim Kelaher played as well Sean O'Hara and from league Steve Reardon. If anyone wants to play give Kris Dunstan a call. His number is on the Temora Tuskers website.

Some good match ups again in SIRU this week.
Defending premiers Wagga Waratahs (3rd) head to the MIA to tackle a fired up Griffith Blacks (2nd) outfit in the match of the round. This is a real litmus test for the boys in blue after a big loss (51-7) to 2010 Grand Finalists Wagga Ag College followed by a one sided (85-0) win over the Leeton Phantoms.
Wagga Ag College (1st) host the Albury Steamers (5th) at Beres Ellwood oval tomorrow, with a tough game on the cards. Albury are an outfit looking to gel at the moment and are building nicely at this time of the season. Aggies meantime have been victorious in their last two outings against Waratahs (51-7) and CSU Reddies (29-5) and should have the mustard to take this one.
RARC (7th) v Temora Tuskers (6th) will be a cracker. This match basically decides which team will make the top six Premier Division and which team will play out the season in 1st Division. Discipline could be an issue in this match and I think the team that can keep it together will take the cake.
The Tumut Bulls(10th) host the Young Yabbies (8th) at Jarrah Park tomorrow in Tumut stalwart Jock Mason's 300th 1st grade game for the Bulls. This wil be a close match, Tumut at home are hard to beat, although both sides are going through a changing of the guard at the moment and we all know anything is possible come 3:15 Saturday afternoon.
No respite for Leeton (12th) hosting CSU Reddies (4th) at Murrumbidgee College Oval tomorrow. Leeton will look for another solid performance from their forward pack tomorrow and with a few CSU injuries will make a good account of themselves against the Reddies.

CSU (3) V GRIFFITH (4) – MATCH OF THE ROUND
This match is a tough one to pick. Griffith tend not to travel well, while CSU have been hot this year, they are without Paul Hood at the moment. Shoodie is the CSU General and guides them round the park very well. I predict a tight finish and think the depth of the Reddies 2nd grade will hold them in good stead at home.
TAHS (2) V RARC (5)
This is always a high-spirited match and tomorrow will be no different. These teams have plenty to prove and neither will take a step backwards with Tahs out to cement 2nd place on the ladder and RARC to commit to the top 6. Tahs tight five will need to step up against a solid RARC pack.
TEMORA (7) V CITY (10)
City have been good in patches, but need to string some continuous pressure together before they get their rewards. This will be a tight match, Temora are a different side without Bill McCrone and may lack some direction in attack, but will definitely make up for it with strong defence. Will Temora miss their Red Card bandit??
ALBURY (6) V LEETON (12)
Albury are unlucky to be sitting in 6th place, they have scored the most bonus points of the competition and sit 3rd in for and against stats. Made a good showing of themselves last week against Aggies without some key players. This is a tough gig for the Phantoms to trek to Murrayfield at this time of the season.
YOUNG (8) V AGGIES (1)
Look out Yabbies, Ag College are coming!! Interesting to note that Aggies have 3 sets of brothers playing for them at the moment – Armstrong x3, Whiteley x2 and Woodhouse x2.

After racking up their first win of the season, can the Tri-Colours back it up? Did the Bulls peak just for Jock? Wagga Waratahs 53 d RARC 5. 15-0 at half time in a really tough hit out. Waratahs with too much class in the end running in 17 points in the final 6 minutes of the match. RARC had their chances towards the end of the first half, but were unable to transfer pressure into points. Great to see Daniel Francis hitting some fine form in his comeback season!!
Ag College 36 d Young 6. This is a good effort from the Yabbies in the face of the Aggies juggernaut, from all reports the Yabbies never backed down on a wet track.
Temora 21 d City 16. City coming away with the bonus point loss here brings them up the table a little, but Temora have done themselves a massive favour with the win keeping them in the hunt for the Top 6. It will be an interesting run home for the Tuskers.
CSU 22 d Griffith 17. What a game!! Nil all at half time, both teams went hard at it for the final 40mins, with CSU coming home late in the half.
Tumut 12 d Coota 7. A hard fought win on a slow Country Club Oval for the Bulls over the Tri-Colours which will keep some fires burning for the Bulls coming into the split. Coota may need to do some soul-searching after winning the First-Division title last year.
Albury 74 d Leeton 5. A tough ask for the Phantoms to head down to Murrayfield in the wet. The cricket pitch at Murrayfield would have made it a long day out for the Phantoms forward pack as Albury ran them from side to side.

TEMORA (7) v TAHS (2). Dizey’s Day at Temora is a real country rugby showpiece event. The Tuskers always put in a big effort for this occasion and tomorrow will be no different. Waratahs will be under-strength with a number of players in the Brumbies Provincial Team (and some key injuries) but should be able to showcase the depth of the club tomorrow. Temora are a different side without Bill McCrone, but will definitely step up for this big day. This is a crucial fixture for Temora with bonus points really counting towards their top 6 hopes.
LEETON (12) v YOUNG (8). Although these two teams are not fighting it out for a top 6 finish, these two proud clubs will go at it hammer and tongs tomorrow. The Phantoms and Yabbies forward packs will not back down which will be interesting to watch given that both teams have made good accounts of themselves in patches during the season. Watch the two open side breakaways Bill Bevan (Phantoms) and Michael McGee (Yabbies) put in a good showing all over the park.

The forwards game will be solid, although it will be interesting to see how Tumut fair without the services of Will Reynolds (rep duties).

ALBURY 20 bt GRIFFITH 14. Good effort from the Steamers to travel to Griffith without some key players and put on a win in the MIA This win puts Albury 4 points clear of Griffith on the ladder now, and surely guaranteed a spot in the top 6.
TEMORA 17 bt TAHS 12. Second biggest upset of the year. Temora REALLY turned up for Dizey's Day and came home with the bacon, gravy and the mash as well. Knocking off Tahs is a big one, and the win has put Temora into the top 6. Good effort from the Tuskers, although Tahs were without 4 first grade players (including Captain Mick Roche) due to rep duties.

Although this doesn't hurt the Aggies at all, I would have thought Aggies had the depth in the club to win this one (they are placed 2nd in 2nd and 3rd grades).

Thanks Nusadan. Grenfell were heavyweights for years when the zones were Sth West and Riverina and were still a form team when SIRU came about. They were strong until about 2006 when they had a real nucleus of the club retire or move on to playing for Cowra and other clubs. They moved away from SIRU (due to travel mainly) to play in the "village" comp of the Central West Zone.
I think the CW Zone suits them more, they are a one team club and play other one team clubs now, whereas when they were in SIRU, every club basically had two grades and they were finding it hard to generate the numbers required (particularly for away games to Griffith, Tumut and Albury) for two grades. Keep an ear to the ground though in about 15 years time as there were 4-5 handy players that retired due to farming and family commitments that all had boys, so they may rise again!!

I do know of the farmers in the Grenfell team, having played with them in the rep teams plus later on being my clients of my business back then, the club were awesome fielding three teams back then (u17s too) with all 3 grades usually first or second each season.
Still not have recovered from the heartbreak of missing out on inflicting the first defeat on Grenfell's firsts for over 3 years in mid '90s when our Yabbies full back didn't manage to kick the ball out on the full after the siren and Grenfell promptly came from behind to score a try on the other corner of the field...
