If you have results from any of the schools rugby competitions around Australia, please post them here. NSW, QLD, ACT wherever it doesnt matter.

nice intent, but why don't we stick to the existing threads?

Feel free to start a new thread for a competition not currently covered though.

Agree - good intent but once you post scores discussions inevitably follow and that white ants the threads that folks have been using the whole season.

That said, it does get difficult to find scores once a match is a few weeks in the past. I'll set up a wiki page as a score repository. That way anyone with 10 posts can add scores and it will be easy to navigate...

Can someone list the comps / divisions so I can work on the structure?

You're a workhorse Moses - you must have been good around the rucks.

I'd say have a section for U/16 and Opens for all of the schools competitions that are represented by threads on the forum as that would give a level of interest. Somehow it would have to be categorised by round or by date - and also maybe categorised by Ones, Twos etc -though maybe not - so it's not a dog's breakfast.

There should be a request that results only should be listed.

Results of state trials eg (in Sydney) GPS v CAS would also be of value as they are hard to find sometimes - and often only the Ones results are given and not the Twos and Threes. So maybe have a separate grouping for NSW trials, Qld trials and Other Trials.

Results in the national Opens or U/16 could be omitted as there are sites that offer them but they are usually a bit late - so maybe include them so folks who are at the game can scoop the official sites I wouldn't bother about the Div II champs. They would be available elsewhere anyway..

Also there should be some ongoing reminder that a Results Wiki is there for folks to look at. Maybe a sticky in bold. No use having a Wiki if folks don't use it.

I've started a draft at [wiki]2011 New South Wales Schoolboy Rugby Results[/wiki] and [wiki]2011 Queensland Schoolboy Rugby Results[/wiki]... the table of contents at the top should make it pretty easy to find the comp you're interested in. By design, it would be results only - any comments would be welcome as they'd go below the results content and not confuse the thread.

How do the competitions fit into state? I could look them up but easier to ask. Also, what are the non-abbreviated names of each comp?

From the threads, we've got:
AIC
CAS
NSW CHS
ISA
ACTJRU
NSWCCC

For the results that are listed elsewhere, I reckon we just link to their results pages. Folks who want to scoop can just post in the related threads.

Thanks guys. Didnt mean to cause a stir....I am pretty new to the site and just noticed that it seemed to miss a section where you could just source results without having to sift through all the comments and dicussion. As good as some of these are, sometimes you just want to get results quickly. Thanks Moses, looks like you are all over it mate.

No probs angrydog - actually seems like a good idea so thanks for the suggestion.
Now we just need people to type the scores in... if someone has a few results from one of the comps I can set it up as a template..

Moses, are you able to set one up for the ACRJRU U18's? FTS posted these scores for the rd 4 matches held last weekend;
Tuggeranong Vikings u18s defeated St Edmunds 1st XV 47-10
Grammar defeated Darramalan 53-17
Marist had the bye.

Moses - there's no need to have the non-abbreviated name of the comp. Everybody knows them by their initials. Anybody who doesn't know the comp by its initials wont be using the wiki anyway.

Also - don't use the description First Division etc - use 1st XV and 2nd XV.

Sydney GPS hasn't started yet; they're just doing trials. IAS and CAS have started and so have the Queensland comps so maybe use those as your template. As soon as you set up a template for a competition post a request to put in results in the relevant thread. I will do one for the Queenland GPS now because it can be used.

You didn't stir. I just pooh-poohed the idea because I forgot we had a hard working Keeper Of The Scarf - Moses -and that he would have time to set it up. I was thinking about it being a normal thread where comment on the results would white ant the existing thread for a comp.

Could be a very good resource but everybody will have to chip in.

Cheers

Thanks Lee.

How's this looking

Thats brilliant but folks may be intimidated by making entries without instructions eg How do you start a new round - do the heading for it and change the colour etc? It intimidated me doing edits in wikis and I wouldn't have a clue how to start a new one or even make a new heading in one.

Is there a Wiki 101 that folks can refer to or is ours self made? Or Moses made - maybe send us a stone tablet Moses.

Or maybe folks that aren't from the Stone Age like me don't have any problem.
