Newbie,

I have no doubt he and the rest of the boys that were hard done by in the selections will channel their anger positively at nationals. I also have no doubt that Country u/16s will suprise a few people at the Nationals.

Coaches will need to give all boys a fair amount of game time - wake up Coaches use your bench to your advantage. They are there because they are good not just to fill in a numbers.

Totally agree Beaver!! The problem is, to win is what it's all about because the coaches are on show as well! What a mess Graham Henry made at the last RWC by not using his bench at the right time, and Robbie has been accused of the same when he took over the Wallabies! I support the "fair game time for all especially when it is a trial for higher honours!":yay

There is much anger at young Tulloch being left out of the NSW side but, tell me who would he replace in the starting team? In my opinion he is behind Tepai, Kellaway, Jones, Andrews and Clark so if he was to be in the starting side, who would he replace?

Before the weekend I predicted Country to beat Sydney by one try.

For the sake of debate, I predict that Victoria will beat Queensland in the final at Nationals.

What do you think? what do you know about the other teams?

Do you base this statement on NSW Country being flogged by Victoria ?? Don't you rate the Schools team ?

Correct. I talked to one of the country dads on Sunday and he had huge raps on the Victorian team, especially their 5/8. As for Schools, I haven't seen them as a team yet but think they may only just beat Sydney and Country. How do you rate the Schools team against the teams on display last Sunday?

Let the truth come forth (or was that fifth)

Hey I'm back, :lmao:

You pussies really s**t me. You started this forum whining about the ARU attempting to have some say in selecting 2 NSW teams to play in the U16s state titles & moving away from the current bias and shallow based, inefficient system that currently exists. So, the ARU takes a step back and allows this system to continue (at least for this year) where bias exist at every level (typically favouring the private schools – GPS, CAS).

Now, you start bitching about the current system. Some are even continuing to blame to the ARU for these selections. Lord give me strength, blame the NSWRU, Sydney Juniors, Country Juniors & Schools not the ARU (National Talent Development Coordinators) or their NTS squads or merit team. They have had no say in the current squads selected; it is all to do with the system that many of you argued should remain. This system will continue to select players from a shallow pool while future rep players the ARU have identified toddle off to rugby league, AFL.

And we can not understand why we (Wallabies) look like school kids playing against men (All Blacks).

:angryfire:

Disagree, Kellaway's game from the back is much better than Jones'. Not to say Jones' isnt good, kellaway's kick is better than Jones' to

have you ever seen jones kick ??? he has a fair boot on him and with practise it would truly fly... although agree about kicking goals.. although jones has more menacing attack and about the same defence i do think that kellaways reputation is what gets him places although a great footballer

From what I saw on Sunday, I don't think either team would beat schools. Schools just have too many players who could inflict real damage to both teams. As for Victoria, I can't say...... I haven't seen them play yet.

The fact that he didn't make the bench is what surprises most here I believe! Someone so versatile as Tulloch should at least make the bench!

Spot on the money there Newbie! I was just about to say the exact same thing. When you have someone that can play 10, 12 or 15 as well as anyone else on his day, and probably play 11, 13 and 14 at a very high standard I believe it is borderline insanity not to have him sitting on the bench.

Have a look at my last post over in the NTS thread!

Don't doubt Dingers!

From what I saw on Sunday, I don't think either team would beat schools. Schools just have too many players who could inflict real damage to both teams.

With all due deference to the learned posters who will inevitably disagree with me, Dingers is absolutely right; emphatically so! Notwithstanding the forwards, the NSW Schools backline just oozes class!

As most of the posters in this room already know I have a healthy respect and love of the 'Dark Side'. In the schools side there are two such lads who often cross into this area on the wrong side of the fence; they are lads who I discuss often! Both also happen to be great rugby players! They are Milne and Morgan.

Most will not have seen much of these two lads in rugby this year, but when they have played it has been a pleasure to watch! I expect that both lads will bring their x-factor to the Schools team.

A notable poster in this room once said that you only have to ask the lads who play at the elite U/16 level who the other good players are to know the same! Given that there are such lads in this room who know such elite juniors I would suggest the same should go and ask the likes of Clark, Moeroa, Winterstein, and even Kagiassis who know Milne and Morgan and ask them how they rate both players!

Regards,
Newbie

Has the world gone crazy?????

No not the stock market or the English riots, but did I read that the Vics put the cleaners through NSW Country.

If memory serves me correct, isn't this the team some bloggers were saying was a extremely competitive rep side & actually drawn with Sydney Juniors last weekend.

Oh lordie (no, not David) what hope is there for the future when the mexicans are given it to us.

Maybe, it's time to reconsider my idea of selecting rep sides or allowing the ARU to move forward with their ideas on selecting potential future rep players (NTS and merit teams).;)

Yes, it is crazy, especially at this level ....

Dictates were that one has to play at Regionals to make the Sydney side, and one has to play Sydney/Country to make the NSW side. As has been discussed, these stipulations have been thrown out.

To Beaver and KPiO points, the Sydney reserves were not deployed effectively (perhaps except for Clark's injury); some got a few minutes and I am sure one or two got NO game time at all. Whereas the Country reserves were seen warming up in the second half, I am not sure that this was the case for Sydney. These teams play again at the Nationals, so Sunday's match - although for the Ella Cup - wasn't that critical that all the boys couldn't have had a minimum period of time to at least make themselves known to NSW selectors. Not all the boys wear a halo from previous years. There wasn't coaching glory to be had from Sunday's game as much as there was an opportunity to get 23 kids firing as a team ahead of the Nationals. Although, as has been noted previously, the Country hooker dominated the Sydney hooker yet the latter was selected for NSW so, again, there's injustice all over. Ditto for several other positional match-ups.

Hopefully the NSW coach(es) will mix things up - I think positions 1-15 are covered by Sydney names and Country boys are at 3, 6, 8, 9, 10 & 14, with a 1 and a couple of backs from Schools. I haven't got that 100% right - did someone mention "Davis", perhaps meaning Delore? - but things are less than ideal when some serious Country talent has been overlooked.

And as for the discussion about Orr, whether he plays at 1 or 4, he's a monster workhorse up front and a passionate leader. The CAS 1st XVs thread reveals he was spotted being quite nimble/agile against Knox last Saturday, and he was sparkling in Sunday's game. Orr would get my vote for appointment as Captain of the NSW side. At least he could bring some sanity back to the morass of craziness which (for a variety of reasons) is the Under 16's world right now.

Which players did not play regionals & do we know why? Ignore that boys were told which team they would play in (Schools or SJRU) as U16s and would otherwise be denied an opportunity to play NSWJRU. Procedural fairness needs to rub in 2 directions.

As to the state side, don't be surprised if the second named side (after the champs) is different and more reflective of the perfomances put in across a multi day tournament.
